HOCKEY EAST HEADLINES

No. 10/13 Massachusetts swept Vermont in a two-game home set over the weekend, led by senior Bobby Trivigno (Setauket, N.Y.,) who had a fourpoint weekend with a goal and three assists. His goal capped the scoring in Saturday’s 4-0 victory and followed up by having a hand in three of four goals in Sunday’s 4-1 win, posting a new career single-game best with three assists.

No. 19 Providence took a 1-0-1 record over previously unbeaten No. 10/12 Northeastern, paced by four points (2g, 2a) from Greg Printz (Fairfax, Va.) Printz tied the game with 1:14 remaining in regulation in the Friars’ 3-3 draw at Northeastern and chipped in with an assist in each game.

His goal capped the scoring in Saturday’s 4-0 victory and followed up by having a hand in three of four goals in Sunday’s 4-1 win, posting a new career single-game best with three assists.

Uula Ruikka - Providence

Uula Ruikka (Fr., D; Oulu, Finland) tied for the league lead among freshmen with two points in a 1-0-1 weekend with Northeastern, including his first career goal on Saturday on the road. Ruikka added an assist on Sunday and totaled six shots on goal over two games.

Jaxson Stauber - Providence

Jaxson Stauber (So., G; Plymouth, Minn.) stopped 55 of 58 shots faced over two games against the nation’s top scoring offense as the Friars earned a win and tie over Northeastern this weekend. Stauber posted a 1.45 GAA and a .948 save percentage over two games, including his first career shutout on Sunday with 28 saves.


HOCKEY EAST TOP PERFORMERS

Matthew Kessel, UMass (So., D; Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) Scored in both games of UMass’ weekend sweep of Vermont, including a power-play goal in Sunday’s contest. Finished with a plus-one rating and helped the Minutemen limit the Catamounts to just one power-play goal and 33 shots on net over the two-game series.

Jayden Struble, NU (So., D; Cumberland, R.I.) Scored a goal and added an assist in Northeastern’s 3-3 draw with Providence on Friday night.

Greg Printz, PC (Sr., F; Fairfax, Va.) Finished tied for the Hockey East lead last week with four points on two goals and two assists. Printz tied the game with 1:14 remaining in regulation in the Friars’ 3-3 draw at Northeastern on Saturday and added another goal on Sunday against the Huskies. He also chipped in with an assist in each game.
