Colorado Springs, Colo. - USA Hockey today named the 29 players that have been invited to its pre-tournament camp beginning Dec. 17 that make up the preliminary 2011 U.S. National Junior Team roster. The list of 29 players includes nine student-athletes from the Hockey East Association, which is best amongst all the other leagues represented. The 2011 U.S. National Junior Team will compete at the International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championship, Dec. 26, 2010-Jan. 5, 2011, in Buffalo and Niagara, N.Y.

Boston College leads the way with four sophomores from Eagles roster, which includes defensemen Brian Dumoulin (Biddeford, Maine), sophomore forward Chris Kreider (Boxford, Mass.), sophomore defender Philip Samuelsson (Scottsdale, Ariz.) and sophomore forward Patrick Wey (Pittsburgh, Pa.) were all named to the preliminary U.S. roster.

A trio of Boston University freshmen were also invited, as defenseman Adam Clendening (Wheatfield, N.Y.), forward Charlie Coyle (East Falmouth, Mass) and forward Matt Nieto (Long Beach, Calif.) will all participate in the camp. Northeastern's freshman defenseman Jamie Oleksiak (Boston, Mass.) and Vermont freshman forward Connor Brickley (Everett, Mass.) were also named to the preliminary squad.

Former Merrimack College goaltender Joe Exter will serve as an assistant coach for the 2011 U.S. National Junior Team.

The final U.S. National Junior Team 22-man roster will be announced prior to Team USA's final exhibition game against Norway on December 23.

The U.S. will be defending its 2010 IIHF World Junior Championship gold medal, having defeated Canada, 6-5, in overtime, to claim the title last year in Saskatoon, Sask.

The Hockey East Association is a 10-team, Division-I college hockey conference, with offices based in Wakefield, Mass. Founded in 1983, the league has won seven NCAA championships in the past 18 years. The league also sponsors an eight-team women's league which began play in 2002-03.
