Maine's Jeff Dimmen and Dan Sullivan shared Top-Scholar Athlete Honors |
WAKEFIELD, Mass. - Hockey East is proud to announce 85 student-athletes were named to the 2010-11 All-Academic Team in the league's
27th season of play, which was announced on Wednesday afternoon. Each student-athlete achieved a grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better
in each of the two academic periods during which he was actively competing.
Maine senior defenseman Jeff Dimmen (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and freshman goaltender Dan Sullivan (York, Pa.) shared the distinction as
the Hockey East Top-Scholar Athlete, as they both earned perfect 4.0 GPA's for the season.
The league also honored nine student-athletes that received "Distinguished Scholar" status. Those earning "Distinguished Scholar" status
achieved a 3.0 or better in each semester over four varsity seasons. UMass-Lowell's Scott Campbell (Navan, Ont.) and Jason DeLuca (East
Moriches, N.Y.), Maine's Tanner House (Cochrane, Alta.) and Dimmen, along with Providence's Matt Germain (Rockland, Mass.) and Kyle MacKinnon
(Walnut, Calif.) were the three pairs of teammates to take home the honor. Vermont's Josh Burrows (Prairie Grove, Ill.), UMass' Michael
Lecomte (St. Hyacinthe, Que.) and UNH's Greg Manz (Wayne, Pa.) also were awarded the distinction for four years of academic success.
