Derek Arnold (Sr., F, Foxboro, Mass.) Scored the game-winner in dramatic fashion on Saturday at UNH, scoring 3:17 into the extra session.

Robbie Baillargeon, BU (Fr., F, Enfield, Conn.) Earned the primary assist on both the game-tying and game-winning goals in Friday's 4-3 win over No. 3 PC.

Ahti Oksanen, BU (So., D, Kirkkonummi, Finland) Oksanen scored BU's lone goal against PC on Saturday and added an assist in Friday's win.

Ray Pigozzi, UM, (Fr., F, Evanston, Ill.) Scored first career game-winner to lift UMass to its first Hockey East victory of the season, 2-1 over Maine.

Bryan Rust, ND (Sr., F, Novi, Mich.) Had a shorthanded goal and two assists with five shots on goal and a +3 rating in Notre Dame's split at Vermont.

VERMONT PENALTY KILL Killed off 20 power plays in a row


Boston College: Johnny Gaudreau scored his third goal in two games and now has six in seven games. The Carneys Point, N.J., native is tied for ninth in the country in points (1.57 ppg) scored and tied for sixth in goals scored (0.86 gpg). Gaudreau scored his first collegiate short-handed goal against Northeastern in his 85th outing donning the maroon and gold. In all, Gaudreau has scored 16 points (8-8-16) against the Huskies. Kevin Hayes tallied his second power play goal of the season on Friday night. He has posted multi-point performances in three of his seven outings this season. Hayes recorded his 75th-career point in Friday's game against NU. Hayes has now scored 20 goals in his career while half have occurred via the power play. Senior captain Patrick Brown netted his second short-handed goal of the season and is one of five skaters in the country with a pair of short-handed goals. Boston College is now 18-8-4 in Hockey East season openers and an unblemished 3-0-0 at Kelley Rink this season.

Boston University: Sophomore goaltender Sean Maguire (Powell River, B.C.) ranks first in Hockey East and sixth in the nation in save percentage at .941.. Sophomore Ahti Oksanen leads all Division I defensemen in points thus far with nine on two goals and seven assists...Friday's result marked the first time BU won a game after facing a 3-0 deficit since a 5-4 overtime victory against Massachusetts on Oct. 29, 2011, at Agganis Arena...It also was the first time that PC's Jon Gillies has ever given up four goals when facing under 30 shots...The past six goals by the Terriers have all been scored by sophomores...Nine (5g,4a) of sophomore Matt Lane's 13 career points have come in his last 14 games dating back to last season...After the split with the Friars, BU is now 9-2-1 against them in their last 12 meetings...BU ranks second in the country in blocked shots with 131, including 21 from senior Garrett Noonan (Norfolk, Mass.), who ranks tied for first in Hockey East and tied for fifth nationally.

Maine: Maine played a two-game series at UMass this past weekend as the teams wrapped up four straight games…The loss on Saturday night snapped the Maine's four-game unbeaten streak…The Black Bears registered a season-high 39 shots in the game on Saturday against the Minutemen…Senior Mark Anthoine (Lewiston, Maine) played in his 100th consecutive game on Saturday night at UMass, the longest streak on the Maine team…Devin Shore (Ajax, Ontario) recorded his 30th career point over the weekend at UMass…Ben Hutton (Prescott, Ontario) was Maine's top scoring defenseman last season with 15 points and leads all defensemen this year with four points in seven games…Maine goalie Martin Ouellette (St.-Hippolyte, Que.) started his 50th career game in goal at UMass on Saturday night…Maine now returns home for a season-long four game home stand…The Black Bears have a mark of 3-0-0 at Alfond Arena this season.

Massachusetts: UMass scored its 13th power-play goal of the season in Saturday's win over Maine and is tied for first in the nation with Quinnipiac in powerplay goals…The Minutemen rank fourth nationally in power play percentage at 29.5% (13-for-44)…Senior Michael Pereira scored his third of the year and 45th of his career vs. the Black Bears on Saturday for his 90th career point…Pereira ranks tied for eighth in program history in career goals and is the first player to enter UMass' top-10 in the past nine seasons…Freshman Marc Hetnik collected his first career point with an assist in Friday's 1-1 tie against Maine…With Hetnik joining the list this past weekend, six of seven UMass newcomers that have seen action though the squad's first eight games have at least one point on the year and have contributed a combined 18 points thus far this season…The Minutemen's freshman class is in the top-15 nationally in scoring (tied for 12th with 14 points) … After giving up seven goals in the squad's opening weekend, junior Steve Mastalerz has posted a 1.65 goals-against average and a .949 save percentage over the six games since. He as allowed just three 5x5 goals in that span (326:48)…Senior co-captain Conor Sheary extended his point-scoring streak to five straight games with a goal and an assist over the weekend…UMass will honor members of the Military by wearing special camouflage jerseys for the squad's Nov. 9 contest against New Hampshire.

UMass-Lowell: The River Hawks extended their winning streak to four straight with two important Hockey East wins over UNH…Derek Arnold scored the gamewinner in dramatic fashion on Saturday at UNH, scoring 3:17 into the extra session, his first goal of the season and fourth career overtime winner…UMass Lowell continued to platoon its All-Star goaltenders; Connor Hellebuyck (Commerce, Mich.) picked up the win on Friday in Lowell and Doug Carr (Hanover, Mass.) got the win in overtime Saturday in Durham…After a slow start, the River Hawks' special teams have gotten back on track, going 3-for-7 on the power play and 9-of-11 on the penalty kill against UNH…UMass Lowell will honor the victims, survivors and first responders of the Boston Marathon bombing with "River Hawk Strong Night" Saturday before the UMass Lowell vs. Northeastern hockey game. Bombing survivors Celeste and Sydney Corcoran of Lowell, Karen Rand of Somerville and Roseann Sdoia of Dracut will drop the ceremonial first puck. A portion of the ticket sales from the game will support Boston Marathon bombing survivors through America's Fund and the UMass Lowell Boston Marathon Scholarship Fund.

Merrimack: After going the first five games of the season watching the opposing team score the first goal of the game, Merrimack finally the first goal of a contest in the second period of its eventual 3-1 win over Bentley on Friday night...An indicator of Merrimack's balanced offense is the fact that 16 different skaters have tallied at least one point in 2013-14, with its leading goal scorer (3) just one ahead of the next three (2), and its leading point scorers separated by just one. Five different players have at least three points, and two boast at least seven....Merrimack outshot Bentley by a 25-22 margin on Friday, making it four straight games that the Warriors have outshot the opposition, a stretch that Merrimack has gone 3-1 in. Merrimack has been outshot just once this year (0-1) and tied with shot attempts once as well (0-1)...After starting the year 0-for- 13 on the power play, Merrimack now has at least one power play goal in each of the last three games, and has gone 5-for-22 (22.7%) on the man advantage during that stretch.

New Hampshire: UNH dropped both games in a home-and-home series against UMass Lowell last weekend…UML scored a pair of third period goals 23 seconds apart to secure the victory on Friday night in Lowell and Derek Arnold's overtime game winner was the difference…The Wildcats are 0-5-1 in their last six games, but all six have come against nationally-ranked opponents…With a goal and an assist over the weekend, senior forward Kevin Goumas recorded his 100th career point. Goumas became the 71st player in program history to crack the 100-point plateau and the first to do it since Phil DeSimone accomplished the feat in the 2010-11 season…Goumas has points in five of the team's six games this season including a two-goal effort against Michigan on Oct. 19…Nick Sorkin has been equally efficient offensively with points six points in seven games including three-straight games…UNH has played a brutal schedule stretch with every single opponent appearing in last week's national poll. The teams are are combined 28-8-4 with a .750 winning percentage…UNH has lost three one-goal games including two in overtime.

Northeastern: Friday's loss moved Northeastern to 13-11-6 all-time in Hockey East openers…The Huskies have the nation's leading freshman (Mike Szmatula) and sophomore (Kevin Roy) scorers…Boston College scored a shorthanded goal in each game against the Huskies; before then, NU hadn't allowed a shorthanded goal all season…NU leads the nation with 35 goals this season (4.38 goals per game), which is 43% of its 81 goal total from last year…Jake Schechter's assist on Friday made him the eighth different Husky to record their first collegiate point this season.

NOTRE DAME: Notre Dame made its first-ever trip to Vermont and got a split with the Catamounts in the first Hockey East series for the Irish…The Irish power-play was shutout for the first time this season against Vermont, going 0-for-12 in the series against the Catamounts. In the first six games this season, Notre Dame had one or more power play goals in each game…In the first eight games of the 2013-14 season, sophomore left wing Sam Herr has five goals and two assists for seven points. As a freshman, he had one assist in 13 games for the Irish…Notre Dame's rally from a 2-0 deficit at Vermont for the 3-2 win was the first time the Irish had come back from being down two goals since Nov. 11, 2011 when the Irish trailed Alaska, 2-0 in the first and rallied for a 5-4 win…The Irish return home to face No. 1-ranked Minnesota on Nov. 8-9…This marks the first time that the Gophers have visted Notre Dame since Feb. 29-March 1, 1980 when both teams were members of the WCHA…Minnesota head coach Don Lucia is a 1981 graduate of Notre Dame, his son Mario is a sophomore with the Irish.

Providence College: The Friars remain unbeaten at Schneider Arena, posting a 5-0-1 record at home this season…Junior forward Drew Brown notched his first point of the year, an assist on Saturday night's game winner, in his season debut...Junior forward Shane Luke has a two-game assist streak...Junior forward Ross Mauermann recorded his fourth multi-point game of the season with two goals an assist against BU on Saturday night...Mauermann also has a threegame point streak, going 4-3-7 in that span and on the season he has seven goals in seven games played…Freshman defenseman Kyle McKenzie notched his first career point with an assist on Friday night…Senior defenseman Steven Shamanski's goal on Friday night was his second career short-handed tally (now has seven career goals).

Vermont: Vermont earned a 2-1 win over second-ranked Notre Dame on Friday night in the Hockey East opener for the Fighting Irish … It marked UVM's first upset of a top-5 ranked team since Oct. 10, 2009 when the Catamounts beat Denver on the road 6-4…Vermont was a perfect 12-12 on the penalty kill over the weekend against Notre Dame and has now killed off 20 opponent power plays in a row dating back four games to Oct. 12 at North Dakota…UND came in averaging 33 shots per game, and UVM held it to 24.0 in two games...Rookie Mike Santaguida started both games in net over the weekend, stopping 40 of the 44 shots he faced…A freshman goaltender has now started 41 consecutive games for Vermont, as Brody Hoffman started all 36 last season.
