Providence College Top Pick in Preseason Coaches' Poll
Friars Pegged as Program to Beat; Four Teams Collect First-Place Votes
Providence College has been selected as the top team by Hockey East coaches

BOSTON Providence College has been chosen to win the Hockey East Association title in the 2014-15 men's coaches' preseason poll. Hockey East commissioner Joe Bertagna made the announcement at the league's annual media day at TD Garden.

The Friars appear at the top of the poll for the second time in program history by garnering seven first-place votes from the league's 12 head coaches. Previously, Providence was selected as the top team prior to the 2001-02 season despite receiving zero first-place votes. The full poll can be found below.

ABOUT HOCKEY EAST: The Hockey East Association is a 12-team Division I college men's hockey conference founded in 1984 and an eight team Division I women's league that began play in 2002-03. The men's league has won eight NCAA championships in the past 21 years. Since 1999, Hockey East has won six NCAA Championships and has placed 22 teams in the Frozen Four, along with 58 teams in the NCAA Tournament.
