Stingy Defense Set to Clash Between No. 10 Vermont and No. 16 Providence
No. 4 UMass Lowell, No. 8 Boston College Look to Earn W's in Big Ten/Hockey East Challenge
Providence College hosts a two-game set against Vermont this weekend

No. 10 Vermont vs. No. 16 Providence - Fri. 11/14, Sat. 11/15 at PC

- No. 10 Vermont enters a weekend series at No. 16 Providence tied for first place in Hockey East with No. 4 UMass Lowell. The Catamounts swept their series last weekend against Maine, in which netminder Brody Hoffman improved his record between the pipes to 5-0-1.

- Friars goaltender Jon Gillies made 58 saves on 61 shots last weekend as Providence split its home and home series with Merrimack. In Hockey East play, the Friars are tied for third in goals against average (2.00), but are eleventh in goals for per game (1.50).

No. 3 Boston University vs. Maine - Fri. 11/14, Sat. 11/15 at Maine

- No. 3 Boston University is averaging 4.40 goals for per game in Hockey East play, coming off a threepoint weekend. Terrier forward Jack Eichel earned Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week for the second time this year after knotting a goal and three assists last weekend to help this team to a win at No. 8 Boston College and a tie against UConn.

- Maine fell twice to No. 10 Vermont last weekend and looks to get back above the .500 mark in Hockey East play when the Black Bears welcome No. 3 Boston University to Orono. The last meeting of the two teams came during the 2014 Frozen Fenway series, where Maine up-ended BU, 7-3.

No. 8 Boston College vs. Michigan State - Fri. 11/14 at MSU

- No. 8 Boston College travels to Michigan State for the first time since 1990 for its first game against the Big Ten in the 2014-15 season. Last season, the Eagles went 3-2-1 against Big Ten foes, but are just 7-17-1 all-time against the Spartans.

Penn State vs. No. 4 UMass Lowell - Fri. 11/14, Sat. 11/15 at UML

- No. 4 UMass Lowell welcomes Penn State to the Tsongas Center as the River Hawks look to improve their 1-1-0 record in the Big Ten/Hockey East Challenge.

- River Hawks rookie goaltender Jeff Smith stopped 20 shots against Northeastern on Nov. 8 for his first career shutout in his third career start.

- UMass Lowell has scored two power-play goals in three straight contests.

Notre Dame vs. Merrimack - Fri. 11/14, Sat. 11/15 at MC

- Notre Dame and Merrimack have gone head-to-head eight times in the programs' history, with the Irish holding a narrow 4-3-1 advantage. Notre Dame is also 2-1-0 all-time at Merrimack, but have not traveled to Lawler Rink since November 26, 1991.

- Merrimack enters the weekend with the league's top defense, allowing just 1.33 goals per game in Hockey East play. The Warriors are coming off of a weekend split with No. 16 Providence, including a 1-0 shutout win last Saturday.

Northeastern vs. New Hampshire - Fri. 11/14 at UNH; Sat. 11/15 at NU

- New Hampshire and Northeastern both look to earn their first Hockey East win of the 2014-15 season.

- The Wildcats own a 95-59-15 record all-time against the Huskies. UNH head coach Dick Umile carries a 49-17-13 record (.703 winning percentage) against NU.

Sacred Heart vs. UConn - Fri. 11/14 at UConn (Taft School)

- Warrior Hockey Player of the Week Trevor Gerling, Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week Rob Nichols and the UConn Huskies are coming one of the best weeks in program history, downing No. 8 Boston College, 1-0, and skating to a 4-4 draw with No. 3 Boston University. They'll look to keep rolling as they square off with Sacred Heart in front of a sold-out crowd at the Taft School.
