Trevor Mingoia tallied two assists for No. 16 Providence College as the Friars shutout No. 10 Vermont, 3-0, Friday. Over the course of the weekend, the junior forward launched seven shots on net and buried one of them for a power-play goal in the Friars' 2-1 loss to the Catamounts on Saturday. Warrior

Stevens scored the game-winning goal to help Northeastern win its first game of the season, 2-1, against New Hampshire Saturday night. The goal, assisted by his older brother, John, was the first of Nolan's collegiate career. Nolan also assisted on the Huskies' first goal of the evening to log his first collegiate multi-point game. Santaguida stopped 41 of 42 shots he faced over the weekend, posting a .976 save percentage in a two appearances at No. 16 Providence College. HOCKEY EAST WEEKLY TOP PERFORMERS

Danny O'Regan, BU (Jr., F; Needham, Massachusetts) Scored the short-handed, game-winning goal and added an assist in a 3-1 win over the Maine Black Bears.

Jack Eichel, BU (Fr., F; North Chelmsford, Massachusetts) Assisted on O'Regan's game-winner and scored on an empty net to clinch a 3-1 victory over Maine.

Kevin Boyle, UML (Jr., G; Manalapan, New Jersey) Recorded a .944 SV% and 1.82 GAA in 99:07 against Penn State, claiming victory in a 5-3 win Friday.

Mathieu Tibbet, MC (Fr., F; Dover, Delaware) Notched two goals in a 4-1 victory over Notre Dame Saturday, his first multi-goal game as a Warrior.

Matt Willows, UNH (Sr., F; Congers, New York) Tallied a goal and two assists in a weekend split with Northeastern.

Clay Witt, NU (Sr., G; Brandon, Florida) Made 62 saves in his return to the Husky lineup, including 35 Saturday to backstop NU to its first win of 2014-15.

Chad Katunar, ND (So., G; Victoria, British Columbia) Stopped 24 of 26 shots in a 3-2 win over Merrimack in his first start since Oct. 24.

Connor Hurley, ND (Fr., F; Edina, Minnesota) Clinched a 3-2 road win for the Irish with an overtime goal against Merrimack.

Robbie Russo, ND (Sr., D; Westmont, Illinois) Netted a goal, picked up a helper and blocked three shots in two games at Merrimack, including the lone goal Saturday.

Jake Walman, PC (Fr., D; Toronto, Ontario) Picked up a helper in each game against Vermont and fired a team-high eight shots on net to finish plus-two.

Jon Gillies, PC (Jr., G; South Portland, Maine) Recorded 10th shutout of his career over No. 10 UVM, compiling 1.01 GAA and .966 SV% numbers. It marked the first time in 2014-15 the Catamounts failed to score a goal.


HOCKEY EAST NEWS FEED

FIRSTS/MILESTONES: Senior Connor Leen has scored in three consecutive games for the Maine Black Bears, marking the longest such stretch of his career ... Rookie Jared Kolquist picked up his first point as a Merrimack Warrior with an assist against Notre Dame Saturday ... UNH captain Matt Willows is currently riding a four-game point streak after a three-point weekend ... Jon Gilles had a 148:14 shutout streak against Vermont snapped Saturday after posting his 10th career shutout as a Friar Friday night ... Vermont's Malcom McKinney scored his first career goal with help from the first Catamount assist by Mitch Ferguson ... Nick Luukko skated in his 100th game as a Catamount on Saturday at Providence.

JACK'S RELENTLESS OFFENSE: With two points (1g, 1a) at Maine, Terrier freshman forward Jack Eichel became the first BU rookie since Shawn MacEachern (1998) to ride an eight-game point streak to begin his career.

TOWER DEFENSE: Notre Dame senior defenseman Robbie Russo continues his hot start, posting 12 points (5g, 7a) to date, good for second in the nation. His five goals is tied for the national lead among defenseman and retains a plus-10 rating.

IRISH HAWKS: UMass Lowell squares off with Notre Dame for a Thursday-Friday series at the Compton Family Ice Center. UML is 3-0-0 all-time against the Irish and currently leads the nation in scoring offense with 4.00 goals per game.

EARLY RETURNS: Boston University is one Hockey East win away from matching the five league wins the Terriers had in 2013-14, while Merrimack's seven wins are just one shy of last season's total of eight Warrior victories.
