Hayes registered a goal and an assist in Maine's two-game, non-league series with New Hampshire. The Atlanta, Georgia native's goal on Friday night against the Wildcats proved to be the game-winner in a 5-2 victory. Santaguida earns Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week Honors for the second time this season after making 35 saves to help No.10 Vermont shutout St. Lawrence, 2-0, Saturday night. This game marks the sophomore netminder's second road shutout of an ECAC team this season, the previous coming Oct. 18 against Clarkson. HOCKEY EAST WEEKLY TOP PERFORMERS

Quinn Smith, BC (Sr., F; Fairfield, Connecticut) Scored two goals in a 5-1 win over Big Ten rival Michigan Saturday night.

J.J. Piccinich, BU (Fr., F; Paramus, New Jersey) Recorded his first collegiate goal in a 5-1 Terriers victory at RPI Saturday.

Matt O'Connor, BU (Jr., G; Toronto, Ontario) Stopped the first 35 shots he faced before allowing a power-play goal on RPI's final attempt Saturday.

Evan Rodrigues, BU (Sr., F; Etobicoke, Ontario) Picked up three assists on the weekend, helping No. 2 BU to victory.

Blaine Byron, ME (So., F; Manotick, Ontario) Notched three goals and added an assist in two neutral site games against rival UNH.

Ben Hutton, ME (So., D; Prescott, Ontario) Had two goals and two assists in weekend split with UNH, picking up a goal and assis tin both games.

Brady Shaw, UVM (So., F; Ottawa, Ontario) Scored a goal and added an assist in a 2-0 victory over St. Lawrence Saturday.

Kevin Irwin, UVM (Fr., F; Akron, Ohio) Notched the first game-winning goal of his Catamount career in 2-0 victory at St. Lawrence.

FIRSTS/MILESTONES/STREAKS: Vermont freshman Kevin Irwin scored the first game-winning goal of his career Saturday night at St. Lawrence ... Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week Mike Santaguida leads the nation in goals against average (1.08) and save percentage (.962) ... New Hampshire junior Harry Quast and sophomore Matias Cleland each scored their first collegiate goals Saturday while freshman Wildcat Dylan Chanter picked up his first two points Friday on two assists ... Junior Friar Trevor Mingoia has 13 points (8g, 5a) in his last 10 games while junior Nick Saracino is riding a three-game point streak with four assists in that span.

CATAMOUNTS STORMING: Through 17 games, Vermont carries a record of 13-3-1, its best start since 1987- 88. John LeClair was a freshman for the Catamounts that season. UVM is currently tops in the NCAA with a 1.53 goals against average and 93.7 percent penalty kill rate, while riding a six-game winning streak.

LEAMAN GETS 200: Providence Friars head coach Nate Leaman captured his 200th victory as a head coach in Tuesday's 4-3 win over No. 13 Colgate.

TOP DOGS: No. 2 Boston University has become just the sixth team in program history to reach the holiday break with more than 10 wins accrued.
