No. 18 Merrimack Looks to Keep Climbing Against No. 3 Boston University

Merrimack College battles Boston University this weekend in a home-and-home series

No. 3 Boston University vs. No. 18 Merrimack - Fri. 12/5 at MC; Sat. 12/6 at BU

- No. 18 Merrimack's is ranked in the top 20 in the national polls for the first time in nearly two years and looks to improve upon its standing with a home-and-home series against No. 3 Boston University.

- No. 3 Boston University's Jack Eichel earned Warrior Hockey Player of the Month accolades for November after leading all Hockey East players in points (13), assists (9), and plus/ minus (+7) for the month. No. 18 Merrimack will look to Stop It Goaltender of the Month runner-up Colin Delia to help shut down a BU offense that averages 4.12 goals per game.


No. 7 UMass Lowell vs. Maine - Sat. 12/6 at UML

- Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Month C.J. Smith of No. 7 UMass Lowell did not register a point Wednesday night against UConn, but the River Hawks still put up six goals against the Huskies for a 6-4 win. UMass Lowell now sits just one point out of first in the Hockey East standings, and will have an opportunity to take the top spot Saturday against Maine.

- After sweeping Massachusetts on Halloween weekend, Maine has dropped seven games in a row. Despite being limited to just one goal in four of those games, the Black Bears are averaging 2.43 goals per game against Hockey East opponents, which is good enough for fifth in the league.


No. 16 Providence vs. Northeastern/ vs. No. 13 Colgate - Sat. 12/6, Tues. 12/9 at PC

- Northeastern looks to bounce back on the road Saturday against No. 16 Providence after the Friars earned a 5-1 victory Wednesday night at Matthews Arena. Providence forwards Ross Mauermann and Trevor Mingoia each netted two goals and an assist, and Stop It Goaltender of the Month Jon Gillies made 26 saves on 27 shots for the Friars.

- On Tuesday night, the Friars welcome No. 13 Colgate to Schneider Arena. The Raiders are 2-1-0 this season against Hockey East opponents, while the Friars have yet to face a team this season from the ECAC, but are 2-2-1 against non-league opponents.


No. 17 Boston College vs. New Hampshire - Fri. 12/5 at UNH, Sat. 12/6 at BC

- Jerry York's Boston College Eagles and Dick Umile's New Hampshire Wildcats square off this weekend in a home-and-home series. The two coaches have a combined win total of 1,515 games and have won the Hockey East Coach of the Year Award a combined nine times.

- No. 17 Boston College and New Hampshire are both looking to get back in the win column, as the Eagles went 0-2-0 last weekend and the Wildcats have not won a game since Nov. 14 against Northeastern.


Massachusetts vs. Notre Dame - Fri. 12/5, Sat. 12/6 at UMass

- Notre Dame travels to Amherst to take on Massachusetts for the first time since Dec. 30-31, 1994. The Minutemen and Irish split two games last season, but UMass holds a 4-3-0 advantage in the all-time series.

- The Irish are 0-4-1 in their last five games. The Minutemen are coming off of a split with No. 15 Quinnipiac over Thanksgiving weekend and look to gain some ground in the Hockey East standings with a pair of contests against a league rival.
