Trevor Mingoia finished the month of January tied for first among skaters in Hockey East with 12 points on five goals and seven assists. The senior matched a career high with four points (2g, 2a) at Vermont on Jan. 16 and recorded Providence's first shorthanded goal of the season. In that series with Vermont, he netted the game-deciding tally in each contest. He finished with a plus-eight rating in overall play last month and notched two game-winning goals.

Adam Gaudette helped Northeastern to an unbeaten January (6-0-1) with three goals and nine assists. His 12 points was good enough to tie for the Hockey East lead in the month. He also tied for the league lead with three power play-goals in over the course of the month and had at least one point in every game he played in, collecting a career-long point streak to seven games. His 1.71 points per game and 1.29 assists per game were also a league-high in January

Cal Petersen guided the Irish to a 5-1-3 record in January by posting a .940 save percentage and a 1.89 goals against average in a league-high 540:43 of work. His efforts saw Notre Dame collect a 12-game unbeaten streak, dating back to December 2015. He racked up a Hockey East-best 267 saves in January, highlighted by a 49-save showing in a 1-1 tie at Denver (Jan. 1), followed by a 43-save outing the next night against the Pioneers in a 2-2 stalemate (Jan. 2).
