Boston University won its sixth Hockey East tournament championship on Saturday, and first since 1997, and with it received an automatic berth into the NCAA tournament. The Terriers will be the No. 1 seed at the Northeast Regional in Worcester, Mass., and will open against Nebraska-Omaha on Friday. The other half of the bracket in Worcester will feature Boston College taking on Miami. Both were runners-up in their respective conference tournaments.

Maine and UNH will both be headed for the East Regional in Albany, N.Y. The Black Bears are just two years removed from a stunning 5-4 comeback win over Harvard in the 2004 regional in Albany, and they draw the ECACHL champion Crimson again in a rematch. Coincidentally, Harvard has faced a Hockey East team in the first round of the NCAA tournament in each of the last four seasons and will make it five this year. Hockey East has won the four previous meetings.

UNH's draw in Albany is CCHA champion Michigan State, the regional's top seed. These teams last met in the NCAAs in the 1999 Frozen Four. UNH won the game, 5-3, but lost the in the title game to Maine, 3-2 in overtime.

Whichever team advances from Albany would face the winner of the Midwest regional, headed by No. 1 seed Wisconsin. The Northeast Regional champion would advance to face the winner of the West, which features Minnesota as its best team.
