Ten incoming Hockey East student-athletes were selected in the draft |
WAKEFIELD, Mass. - Ten incoming Hockey East student-athletes were selected in the 2010 National Hockey League
Entry Draft on Friday and Saturday, which was held at the Staples Center, home of the NHL's Los Angeles Kings, which
included first-round selections Kevin Hayes (Chicago) from Boston College and Charlie Coyle (San Jose) from Boston
University, with the 24th and 28th selections, respectively.
Connor Brickley, who is committed to skate for the University of Vermont Catamounts in 2010-2011, is the second
highest draft pick in team history, as the Florida Panthers chose him with the 50th overall pick in the second round.
Julian Melchiori from UMass-Lowell was taken with the 87th pick in the third round by the Atlanta Thrashers.
The Eagles led the way with four total draft picks, while the Terriers from BU had two student-athletes selected. Bill
Arnold (Calgary; 4th; 108), Cody Ferriero (San Jose; 5th; 127) and Isaac MacLeod (San Jose; 5th; 136) were all picked
next and will attend BC in the fall. Yasin Cisse was chosen with the 150th selection in the fifth round and will wear a Terriers
jersey this coming season. Anthony Bitetto, who will be a freshman at Northeastern this fall, was chosen with the
168th selection in the sixth round by the Nashville Predators, while Maine's Martin Ouellette rounded out the selections
with the 184th pick in the seventh and final round.
San Jose led the way with three Hockey East selections, while the Atlanta Thrashers chose two players.
A total of 511 Hockey East student-athletes have been selected in the NHL draft in the 26-year history of the league.
It also marks the seventh time at least two Hockey East student-athletes have been be selected in the first roud of the
NHL Entry Draft.
