VERMONT UPENDS PROVIDENCE, 4-2
Dean Strong and Torrey Mitchell each post goal and two assists

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Vermont's Torrey Mitchell and Dean Strong each registered one goal and two assists to lead the Catamounts (3-4-1) to a 4- 2 HOCKEY EAST road win over the Providence College Friars (2-7-1) on Friday, November 10 in at PC?s Schneider Arena.

The Friars got into trouble early as Vermont jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first 8:55 of the game. Chris Myers notched the first tally of the game when he beat Friar netminder Ryan Simpson at the 7:38 mark. Viktor Stalberg netted the Catamounts' second goal when he fired in a shot at 8:55. Friar sophomore Pierce Norton cut the Catamount lead in half when he scored the first of his two goals on the night. He tipped a shot by sophomore Nick Mazzonlini past Vermont goaltender Joe Fallon at 12:01. However, Vermont regained its two-goal cushion as Strong rifled in a shot with just 52 seconds remaining in the first period.

The second period opened with back and forth play as the Friars looked to score their next goal and get back into the game. It was Vermont that was able to score a key goal and put the game out of reach as Mitchell fired a shot that deflected off a defender in front of the net into the back of the cage past goaltender Tyler Sims halfway through the second period. Sims came on at the 6:11 mark of the second period after Simpson left the game due to an injury. Norton worked to get the Friars back into the contest when he registered his second goal of the night after he wristed in a shot from the slot with 45 seconds remaining in the period.

Despite outshooting the Catamounts, 16-10, over the final 20 minutes of play, the Friars were unable to get a shot past Fallon as UVM closed out its third victory of the season.

Providence will return to action on Tuesday, November 14 against Northeastern at PC's Schneider Arena.
