Matt Jones scored two goals for Merrimack

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Merrimack sophomore Matt Jones netted two goals, including the only goal of the third period, to lift the visiting Warriors to a 3-3 tie with Boston College before 4,419 fans in Kelley Rink.

Merrimack led 2-0 early in the second period on goals by Jones and freshman Francois Ouimet, before the host Eagles rallied for the game's next three goals before the end of the middle period.

Freshman Brian Gibbons cut the margin to 2-1 with a power-play goal at 14:00. Sophomore Ben Smith tied the score with a power-play goal at 17:07, and junior Anthony Aiello put BC on top at 19:31.

Jones' goal at 12:16 of the final period gave Merrimack the tie in the final game of the teams' regular-season series. BC had defeated Merrimack twice in October.

Boston College outshot Merrimack, 43-17, through three periods, before the visiting Warriors gained a 7-1 shot advantage in the five-minute overtime.

BC freshman John Muse finished with 24 stops. Merrimack junior Patrick Watson made 41 saves.
