NU and BC to battle for final home-ice playoff spot on Saturday night

Wade MacLeod scored two goals for the Huskies

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Freshman Wade MacLeod scored two goals, including the gamewinner at 3:56 of overtime, to lift Northeastern to a 3-2 Hockey East victory over Boston College before 6,588 fans in Kelley Rink. The victory was Northeastern's second overtime win in as many meetings on BC's home ice this season.

The two teams meet for the third and final time tomorrow night (March 8) in NU's Matthews Arena. The game will decide which of the two teams earns the final host (home ice) position in the Hockey East Tournament's quarterfinal round. BC can clinch home ice with a win or tie.

Northeastern took a 2-1 advantage on MacLeod's first goal of the night at 6:44 of the third period. BC senior Mike Brennan forced the extra session, netting the equalizer at 15:02.

BC sophomore Matt Price opened the scoring just 11 seconds into the contest. Northeastern tied the game on sophomore Greg Costa’s goal at 16:18 of the second period.

Northeastern sophomore Brad Thiessen made 25 saves to earn his 15th win of the season. BC freshman John Muse finished with 31 saves.
