Senior forward Jimmy Russo notched the game-winner for the Huskies

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- Benn Ferriero and Andrew Orpik scored first-period goals and Ben Smith's power-play goal at 10:41 of the third period tied the game and forced overtime, but Northeastern senior forward Jimmy Russo scored with 3.9 seconds remaining in the extra session to earn a 4-3 Hockey East victory over Boston College before 7,289 fans in Kelley Rink.

BC (3-4-5, 2-3-4 Hockey East) gained a 2-0 lead on Orpik's goal at 5:52 of the opening period and Ferriero's power-play score at 16:01.

Trailing 2-0 after one period, Northeastern battled back to even the score at 2-2 after two periods and gain a 3-2 advantage early in the third period. Freshman Mike Hewkin's power-play goal at 6:41 trimmed BC's lead to 2-1. Junior Joe Vitale's goal just 24 seconds later tied the score.

Freshman Tyler McNeely gave Northeastern (6-4-1, 6-3-1 HE) its first lead of the night, scoring at 6:13 while the Huskies enjoyed a two-man advantage.

Smith's power-play goal at 10:41 tied the game and forced the extra session.

BC freshman John Muse made 22 saves. Northeastern sophomore Brad Thiessen stopped 20 shots.
