Jordan Virtue picked up the game-winning goal for UMass

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Massachusetts scored three goals in just more than six minutes in the second period to overcome a two-goal deficit and earn a 3-2 Hockey East win over Boston College before 4,877 fans in Kelley Rink.

After BC jumped out to a 2-0 lead after one period, UMass senior David Leaderer cut the BC margin in half with a goal at 9:14 of the second period. Freshman James Marcou evened the score at 12:20, setting the stage for junior Jordan Virtue's gamewinner at 15:27.

Boston College opened the scoring on sophomore Ben Smith's power-play goal 6:06 into the first period. Sophomore Matt Lombardi doubled the Eagles' advantage at 17:42.

BC goalie John Muse finished with 26 saves. UMass freshman goalie Paul Dainton made 30 saves.
