Brock Bradford scored two goals for the Eagles

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Junior forward Brock Bradford tallied two goals in his second game back from injury to lead Boston College to a 5-2 Hockey East win over Vermont before 6,764 fans in Kelley Rink.

Classmate and linemate Nathan Gerbe recorded one goal and one assist to extend his scoring streak to eight games. Freshman forward Joe Whitney notched one goal and two assists, while junior forward Benn Ferriero tallied three assists.

The game was tied 2-2 after one period, before Boston College took control with two second-period goals. The host Eagles also added a late third-period goal.

Whitney opened the night's scoring at 1:35 and Bradford doubled the BC margin with a shorthanded tally at 6:18. Vermont evened the score with two quick goals. Junior Dean Strong scored at 11:11, and freshman Jack Downing scored at 12:29.

Gerbe netted the decisive goal - on the power play - at 4:10 of the middle period. Senior captain Mike Brennan gave BC a 4-2 cushion at 14:32.

Bradford netted his second goal of the night - and third in two games back in the line-up - on the power play at 16:50. The junior had missed 17 games after suffering a broken bone in his left arm in the season opener on Oct. 12.

The win was Boston College's seventh in its last eight games.

BC freshman John Muse made 17 saves to earn his 10th collegiate win. Vermont senior goalie Joe Fallon made 35 stops.
