ORONO, Maine - The University of Maine men's ice hockey team fell to the University of New Brunswick 2-1 on Saturday night in an exhibition game at Alfond Arena. Andrew Sweetland (Bonavista, Newfoundland) scored the lone goal for the Black Bears.

New Brunswick took a 1-0 lead 16:22 into the first period when John Scott Dickson scored a goal form the right face-off circle, beating Maine goalie Dave Wilson (Caledon East, Ontario). Kyle Bailey and Hunter Tremblay each assisted on the goal.

After a scoreless second period, Maine tied the game on the power play midway through the third period. Andrew Sweetland beat New Brunswick goalie Derek Yeomans on a short from just inside the right face-off circle. Simon Danis-Pepin (Vaudreuil-Dorion, Quebec) and Bret Tyler (Maynard. Mass.) each assisted on the goal for the Black Bears.

The game remained tied until New Brunswick scored at 10:24 to take the lead for good. Tremblay and Luke Gallant passed the puck back and fourth several times before Gallant rifled a shot past Wilson from in between the faceoff circles. It was a five-on-three goal for New Brunswick.
