Chris Kreider scored the game-winner for the Eagles

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Freshman Chris Kreider snapped a 1-1 tie with 13.8 seconds left in the third period on a turn-around wrist shot that beat UMass-Lowell goalie Carter Hutton to the short side to lift 10th-ranked Boston College to a 2-1 Hockey East victory before 5,715 fans in Conte Forum.

Freshman defenseman Brian Dumoulin assisted on the decisive score, Kreider's eighth of the season that came shortly after BC killed a power play.

The host Eagles scored once on the power play in the first period and the visiting River Hawks tied the score on the power play in the second period.

Junior Brian Gibbons scored his 33rd goal and 99th career point at 14:11 of the opening stanza. The Braintree, Mass. resident, whose 11-game scoring streak came to an end in Friday's 4-1 loss at UMass-Lowell, has 99 points in 107 career games.

UMass-Lowell junior Scott Campbell tied the game at 1-1 at 8:11 of the middle period.

BC freshman goalie Parker Milner made 25 saves to earn his sixth victory. He improves to 6-2-0.

The Eagles outshot the River Hawks 34-26.

Hutton tallied 32 saves in the losing effort and falls to 9-9-0.

Next, Boston College will face Northeastern in a home-and-home series that begins at Matthews Arena on Friday, Feb. 19. The Eagles and Huskies will conclude the weekend series at Conte Forum on Sunday, Feb. 21 at 3 p.m. Sunday's game will be telecast by ESPNU.

UMass-Lowell travels to Maine for a Saturday-Sunday series beginning on Feb. 19 in Orono.
