CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Junior Justin Milo's third-period power-play goal gave Vermont a two-goal advantage and the Catamounts held off a late BC charge to gain a 3-2 Hockey East win over host Boston College before 4,472 fans in Kelley Rink.
Vermont held a 2-1 lead after two periods and capitalized on a BC five-minute major penalty with a goal at 9:47 of the final period.
Vermont freshman Chris McCarthy scored the only goal of the first period - at 2:44.
BC evened the score on sophomore Cam Atkinson's at 3:42 of the middle period, before Vermont regained the advantage on junior Kevan Miller's unassisted shorthanded goal - playing 3 on 4 - at 6:05.
After Milo's man-advantage score gave the visitors a 3-1 lead, BC senior assistant captain Ben Smith brought the Eagles within one goal with his tally at 13:45.
BC outshot Vermont in each of the three periods and finished with a 32-25 edge in shots.
BC junior John Muse made 22 saves. Vermont senior Mike Spillane finished with 30 saves to earn his second win of the season.
