Senior goaltender John Muse made 24 saves for Boston College

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College scored twice in the first period and senior John Muse made 24 saves to lead the team to a 2-1 Hockey East victory over Massachusetts before a sellout crowd of 7,884 fans - its second straight and fourth sellout of the season - at Kelley Rink.

With the victory, Boston College captured a sweep of the three-game league series and extended its win streak to nine games against the Minutemen.

Junior Barry Almeida opened the scoring with an even-strength goal at 7:35. Steven Whitney and Bill Arnold assists. Sophomore Pat Mullane added a 4-on-3 power-play tally at 13:03 of the first period with assists to Chris Kreider and Brian Dumoulin.

Massachusetts scored its lone goal in the second period. TJ Syner closed the gap to one - at 2-1 - with his goal at the 17:03 mark.

Muse moved his record to 21-5-1 on the season and picked up career win number 83.

Boston College outshot the visiting Minutemen 38-25.

Paul Dainton made 36 saves in defeat for the Minutemen. He falls to 6-15-4 on the season.

Game Notes: Almeida, who also netted a power-play goal in Friday's 4-3 win in Amherst, Mass., scored in consecutive games for the first time since last year's Hockey East Tournament when he scored three times in two quarterfinal wins over the Minutemen ...
