Freshman forward Connor Toomey scored both goals for the Warriors

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Merrimack freshman Connor Toomey tied the score on his second goal of the game with 1:10 left in regulation and sixth-ranked Merrimack finished with a 2-2 tie against fourth-ranked Boston College before 7,114 fans at Kelley Rink.

After host Boston College scored the first two goals of the contest, Toomey got the Warriors on the scoreboard at 7:08 of the second period. He netted the equalizer while skating with an extra attacker late in the third period.

After a scoreless first frame, BC senior alternate captain Paul Carey opened the scoring - his seventh of the season - 47 seconds into the middle stanza.

Junior forward Steven Whitney doubled the home team's lead 4:37 later, netting a shorthanded score after he received a nifty feed from senior Barry Almeida and broke in alone on Merrimack senior goaltender Joe Cannata (21 saves).

BC freshman goaltender Brian Billett stopped 22 shots in 64:48. He is 3-2-1, while Cannata is 10-4-4.

Merrimack outshot Boston College by a narrow 24-23 margin, including a 6-1 edge in the third period of play.

BC junior defenseman Brian Dumoulin registered two assists on the afternoon.
