The Eagles scored three times in the first period and once in each of the second and third en route to a 5-2 non-league win over Alabama-Huntsville in the first game of the Mariucci Classic and the first meeting in the history of the two programs.

More importantly, the victory marked yet another personal milestone for the coach. The win represented win No. 925 in York's remarkable 41-year coaching career.

Cam Spiro, who tomorrow turns 21 years of age, scored his first collegiate goal just less than three minutes into the game. Junior Bill Arnold doubled the Eagle lead in the game's 12th minute and Danny Linell scored his second of the season just more than one minute later to give York's top-ranked club a 3-0 lead - and all the goals it would need - after the opening period of play.

Both teams scored once in the middle stanza, and both teams scored once in the final frame.

BC freshman Brendan Silk redirected a Pat Mullane feed for his second goal of the season to put be Eagles up 4-0 at 1:23 of the second period, and Alabama-Huntsville's Jeff Vanderlugt got the Chargers on the scoreboard with a power-play goal at 5:38.

BC Senior Steven Whitney then scored his eighth of the season, rocketing a wrist shot high past the glove hand of UAH back-up goaltender Gregg Gruehl on a 2-on-1 break, in the ninth minute of the third period, before Chargers' forward Craig Piece concluded the scoring at 18:49 for the 5-2 final.

BC senior goalie Parker Milner stopped 26 shots to capture his 12th win of the season and the 54th of his career.

Alabama-Huntsville starter John Griggs absorbs the loss, allowing four goals on six shots in the opening 21:23 of the game.

Next, Boston College will face fourth-ranked and tournament-host Minnesota on Sunday, Dec. 30 at 8 p.m. EST. The game will be televised by Fox Sports North and carried regionally by the New England Sports Network.
