CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Sophomore left wing Johnny Gaudreau notched five points, center Pat Mullane tallied four and right wing Steven Whitney recorded three to help top-ranked Boston College to a 6-3 non-league win over 11th-ranked Dartmouth College in front of 7,583 fans at Kelley Rink on Saturday evening.
The game was tied after each of the first two periods. The score was 1-1 after the opening stanza and 3-3 after the second, before a three-goal third period propelled the Eagles to the victory in the first meeting between the teams since November 2008 in Hanover, N.H.
The Eagles' top line accounted for all eight points scored in the game's final 20 minutes.
Mullane opened the third-period scoring early, tapping in Gaudreau's feed for the gamewinner just 18 seconds into the stanza. Whitney put the host Eagles up two goals shortly thereafter, redirecting a Gaudreau feed at 3:41. Gaudreau capped the scoring with an empty netter at with 6.6 left on the clock.
Mullane opened the first period with an even-strength tally at the 3:40 mark. Dartmouth defenseman Rick Pinkston answered to tie the game at 16:19 of the first period.
Junior forward Patrick Brown and Gaudreau scored the first two goals of the second period. Brown's goal was assisted by senior Brooks Dyroff at 4:22 and senior Whitney fed Gaudreau for his tally at the 13:10 mark.
Dartmouth answered with two goals of its own, Brandon McNally scored a power-play goal at 18:32 and Tyler Sikura scored at even strength with 41.3 seconds left in the frame.
Senior goaltender Parker Milner made 29 saves to capture the victory. He improves to 10-1-0 on the season and 52-10-1 in 63 collegiate starts.
Dartmouth goalie Charles Grant recorded 25 saves in the defeat and falls to 2-1-1.

Game Notes: The five points for Gaudreau marks a career high, surpassing his previous career high of four points against North Dakota on Oct. 8, 2011 in his second career game ... He is one shy of tying Ron Mason's NCAA record.
