Junior defenseman Dan Kolomatis scored a goal for the Warriors

NO. ANDOVER, Mass. - Junior defenseman Dan Kolomatis scored a goal for the Warriors as Merrimack College skated to a 1-1 tie against McGill in an exhibition game on Sunday at Lawler Rink.

In a contest that featured 35 shot attempts for the home side, Merrimack controlled the pace of play for the majority of the contest. The lone goal for the home side came late in the first frame, when Kolomatis teed a shot from the right point that beat McGill netminder Jacob Chouinard (34 saves), handing the Navy and Gold a 1-0 lead at the end of 20 minutes.

Both sides would have their chances in an even second period that saw Merrimack hold a slight edge in shot attempts (8-6), while both sides came up empty on two power play chances in the middle frame. Finally, with less than five minutes to go in the third period, Jan Kaminsky received a feed from Alexandre Comtoi and beat junior Ramus Tirronen (Espoo, Finland) on a wrister from the top of the left circle to tie the match at a goal apiece.

That tally would send the game to overtime, where both sides totaled seven shot attempts. With under a minute to go, a McGill penalty sent the Warriors to their final power play of the game but could not capitalize, resulting in the draw after the final buzzer sounded.
