Sophomore forward Steven Swavely scored two goals for the Black Bears

ESTERO, Fla. -- Martin Ouellette (St.-Hippolyte, Quebec) recorded his third shutout of the season while Steven Swavely (Reading, Pa.) had a pair of goals to lead the University of Maine men's ice hockey team to a 4-0 victory over Princeton in the 2013 Florida College. The Black Bears improve to 10-6-1 on the season, while Princeton falls to 3-13. Maine will go for its third straight title on Sunday night.

Maine took a 1-0 lead at 3:23 of the opening frame when Steven Swavely redirected a Dan Renouf (Pickering, Ontario) shot past Princeton goalie Colton Phinney. Devin Shore (Ajax, Ontario) made the pass from behind the goal line to Renouf to pick up the second assist on the goal.

The game remained 1-0 until the first minute of the third period when Steven Swavely received a pass from Connor Leen (Chester, N.Y.) and fired a shot past Phinney from the slot in transition. For Swavely, it was his seventh goal of the season, which tied him for the team lead.

The Black Bears made it 3-0 at 13:21 of the third period. Cam Brown (Natick, Mass.) made a pass back to Jake Rutt (Scarborough, Maine) just inside the blueline. Brown deflected Rutt's shot past Phinney for his third goal of the season. Blaine Byron (Manotick, Ontario) also assisted on the goal.

Maine capped the scoring when Stu Higgins (Troy, Mich.) scored with just six seconds left in the third period to make it a 4-0 final. Eric Schurhamer (St. Paul, Minn.) and Renouf each assisted on the goal.

Maine outshot Princeton 36-33 in the game. The Black Bears were scoreless in two power play chances, while Princeton was scoreless in its lone chance.

Martin Ouellette (St.-Hippolyte, Quebec) made 33 saves to record his third shutout of the season. He improves to 9-6-1 overall. Phinney made 32 saves in the loss for Princeton and falls to 1-6.
