BOSTON - Senior Evan Rodrigues and sophomore Nick Roberto each scored for the Boston University men's ice hockey team as the Terriers skated to a 2-2 tie with Notre Dame on Friday night at Agganis Arena. With the draw, the Terriers secured at least of share of the Hockey East regular-season title.

BU (19-5-5, 13-3-3 HEA) had a 2-1 lead 31 seconds into the third period thanks to Rodrigues' 14th marker of the season, but Anders Bjork knotted the game with 3:43 remaining in regulation to preserve a point for Notre Dame (13-15-5, 8-6-5 HEA).

The Terriers honored the 20th anniversary of their 1994-95 NCAA championship team during the first intermission as 18 players, head coach Jack Parker and assistant coaches Mike Eruzione and Bill Berglund returned for the celebration.

The Terriers trailed the Fighting Irish, 1-0, in the second stanza before Roberto's third goal of the year brought the Agganis crowd to its feet. Freshmen Jack Eichel and Brandon Fortunato each assisted on Roberto's strike. Juniors Danny O'Regan and Matt Grzelcyk both had a helper on Rodrigues' goal.

Junior Matt O'Connor made 17 saves to bring his record to 16-3-4 on the season. BU peppered Cal Petersen with 36 shots, but the Notre Dame netminder stopped 34 of them.

The Terriers held a 36-19 shot advantage but came up empty on three power-play chances. BU successfully killed off both of Notre Dame's opportunities with the man advantage.

After a scoreless opening period, Jack Evans gave the visitors a 1-0 lead when he collected a rebound from a BU shot and went straight down to the other end before beating O'Connor at 4:41 of the second.

Just over five minutes later, Roberto knocked home a loose puck at the left crease following an attempt on a rush by Eichel to make it 1-1.

On the first shift of the third stanza, Rodrigues set up a shot in tight for O'Regan, but the puck made it's way back to Rodrigues, who buried it for his 14th goal of the season.

Late in the game, Bjork and Andy Ryan teamed up to force a turnover at the top of the BU zone. Bjork skated towards the left circle before finding the back of the net with a wrister to send the contest into overtime.

The two teams will meet again on Saturday for BU's annual Autism Speaks Night. Game time is set for 7 p.m. BU needs just one more point to secure the Hockey East regular-season title outright.
