MADISON, Wis. - Junior Ahti Oksanen scored a pair of extra-attacker goals, including the equalizer with 2.2 seconds left in regulation, to help the No. 2 Boston University men's ice hockey team earn a 3-3 draw at Wisconsin on Friday evening at the Kohl Center.

BU, which got on the board first before allowing three straight goals, moves to 11-3-4 on the year while the Badgers' record now stands at 2-11-2

After converting from the right slot with 1:51 to play, Oksanen deflected in an offering from junior Matt Grzelcyk in the closing seconds to create an improbable deadlock.

The Terriers dominated the overtime session, recording six shots while allowing zero, but could not register a winner. BU did, however, win a shootout (2-0) that was held only because the game took place in a Big Ten building. Seniors Evan Rodrigues and Cason Hohmann scored on the first two tries and junior goaltender Matt O'Connor stopped both Wisconsin attempts he faced.

The Terriers opened the scoring 7:53 into the contest on a power play when freshman Brandon Fortunato used a slapshot from the top of the left circle to record his first collegiate goal. Sophomore Robbie Baillargeon and Hohmann assisted on the play.

BU looked to double its lead early in the second period when Wisconsin took a penalty just 20 seconds into the frame. Instead, the Badgers converted on a shorthanded rush to make it a 1-1 contest at the 41-second mark. The home team took the lead with 3:45 left in the second as Jedd Soleway had the puck in the right circle and found an opening just above O'Connor's left shoulder at the near post.

A miscue by O'Connor resulted in a late insurance goal for the Badgers with 2:41 left in regulation. Wisconsin cleared the puck out of its zone and O'Connor skated up to the puck. When he attempted a pass, the puck went off his own man, freshman Brien Diffley, and trickled to the back of the empty net.

With O'Connor pulled in favor of an extra attacker, Oksanen received a pass from Hohmann in the right slot before finding the back of the net off the left post to get BU back to within a goal with 1:51 left to play. Rodrigues also assisted on the tally.

The two teams will meet again on Saturday (Jan. 10) to close out the weekend. Game time is set for 8 p.m. ET.
