ORONO, Maine - The University of Maine Men's Ice Hockey team tied UCONN Saturday night 1-1, in front of 3,891 fans at Alfond Arena.

The Black Bears are now 5-13-5 overall on the season and 2-6-2 in Hockey East, while UCONN is now 8-13-2 on the year and 4-7-2 in Hockey East.

Matt Morris finished the night with 33 saves and held the Huskies scoreless for two periods.

The Black Bears struck with the first goal of the game, midway through the second period from Steven Swavely, his sixth of the season. Swavely stole the puck in neutral ice during a Husky power play and fired a shot over the left shoulder of UCONN goalie Rob Nichols, to give Maine a 1-0 lead on a short handed opportunity.

UCONN responded with a goal of their own 2:52 into the third period on a power play opportunity. Max Letunov tied the game at 1-1. Out of six power play opportunities for the Huskies, Letunov's goal was their only conversion.

The Black Bears were able to kill off a late Husky power play opportunity to bring the game to overtime. In overtime, Maine had three shots and UCONN had two, both were unable to break the tie.

UCONN outshot Maine 40-34 for the game.

The Black Bears have two days off and return to action Tuesday night as they host #2 Quinnipiac with a 7:00 p.m. puck drop.
