WHAT HAPPENED

Arizona State University got on the board first at 10:15 of the first period on a goal by David Norris. The play started with Drew Newmeyer intercepting a UNH shot in the ASU zone and playing it to Norris. He then played a pass along the right side to Tyler Busch and skated in with it. Busch hit Norris in stride with a pass on the far side of the net and one timed the shot into the net.

Tyler Kelleher (Longmeadow, Mass.) tied the game at the 11:53 mark of the first stanza with his sixth goal of the year. Cameron Marks (North Vancouver, British Columbia) initiated the play with a pass to Michael McNicholas (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) in the neutral zone. McNicholas saucered it to Kelleher at the top of the blueline. Kelleher split the ASU defense and went in all alone, shooting the puck to the right side of the net past Sun Devils' goalie Robert Levin.

In the second period, freshman Brendan van Riemsdyk (Middletown, N.J.) scored his first collegiate goal at the 15:54 mark of the second period. Liam Blackburn (Prince George, British Columbia) won the faceoff over to line mate Patrick Grasso (Ankeny, Iowa). Grasso dished a pass to van Riemsdyk who snuck along the redline and crammed the puck past Levin.

ASU tied the game at 2-2 with 1:55 remaining in the second on a goal by Brinson Pasichnuk. Robbie Baillargeon won the faceoff back to Pasichnuk who passed it back and forth. Pasichnuk fired a wrister from just inside the blueline that made its way through traffic and into the net.

McNicholas registered his second point of the night just 1:53 into the third period with a power play goal to give UNH a 3-2 advantage. Senior captain Matias Cleland (Longmont, Colo.) gained control of the puck in the UNH zone and fired a pass up to McNicholas in the neutral zone. He played a pass to Kelleher who skated into the ASU zone and found an open McNicholas to the left of Levin. McNicholas ripped a one-timer into the net to light the lamp.

Just 43 seconds later, Shane Eiserman (Newburyport, Mass.) padded the UNH lead to 4-2 with his second goal of the season. Linemate Chris Miller (Windham, N.H.) corralled the puck in the corner of the ASU zone and skated in front with it. Miller dropped it off for Eiserman who then skated across the face of the net and flipped the puck into the net.

ASU scored a pair of goals in the third period to tie the game and force overtime as they tied the game at 4-4. Jordan Masters scored at 6:27 of the Anthony Croston registered the primary assist on the play while Louie Rowe notched the secondary. Jakob Stridsberg tied the game with 90 seconds left in the third period to draw the score at 4-4 and send it to overtime. At 56 seconds of OT, Pasichnuk scored his second goal of the night to lift the Sun Devils to a 5-4 win. Baillargeon notched his second assist of the night on the p(lay while Dylan Hollman also assisted on it.
