NOTES

- Providence got on the board first, as Vimal Sukumaran lit the lamp just 1:48 into the game. Matt Koopman skated down below the goal line and played a pass in front for Sukumaran to tap past Joe Woll. Sukumaran's goal, which was also assisted by John McDermott, was his fifth of the season.

- Boston College responded quickly, scoring just 33 seconds later. Michael Kim blasted a shot from the point, which was blocked by a Friar defenseman. Marc McLaughlin jumped on the rebound and scored over Hayden Hawkey's glove.

- The Eagles scored twice more in the opening 10 minutes of play. Chris Grando and Michael Kim were the goal scorers that gave BC an early 3-1 lead.

- Each team had two power-play opportunities during the second period. Neither team generated much offense, as the Eagles recorded two shots and the Friars posted three during their four minutes on the man-advantage.

- Providence scored the lone goal of the period with just 4.1 seconds on the clock. Tic-tac-toe passing between Scott Conway, Jacob Bryson and Spenser Young led to an easy finish for Young at the back door. The goal marked his seventh of the season and sent the Friars to the locker room within one.

- Young struck again for the Friars at 3:59 of the third. His goal, which came on the power play, tied the game at 3-3. Jack Dugan drew a defenseman to the point and then slid a pass to the back door for Young to tap in. Ben Mirageas became the sixth Friar to earn an assist in the game by picking up the secondary assist.

- Providence regained the lead with a 4-on-4 strike with 11:04 remaining. Vincent Desharnais slapped a one-timer through Woll's five-hole from the slot to give the Friars a 4-3 lead. Conway and Dugan each picked up their second assist of the game on Desharnais' fifth goal of the season.

- The Eagles tied the game at 4-4 with an extra-attacker goal and 1:36 remaining in regulation. Julius Mattila played the hero for BC, notching his eighth goal of the season on a scramble in front of Hawkey.

- Brandon Duhaime scored his 10th goal of the season 1:31 into the overtime period to give the Friars a 5-4 victory. Tyce Thompson fired a shot off of Woll's right pad and Duhaime was there to bury the rebound. Michael Callahan earned the secondary assist.

- Providence is now 1-0-6 in overtime games this season.

- The Friars improve to 6-0-1 over the last seven games and have now won seven-consecutive playoff games on home ice.

- Duhaime notched his second career playoff overtime winner. His last one came against Northeastern in the 2018 Hockey East Semifinals against Northeastern.

- The win also marked the first playoff overtime victory by the Friars at Schneider Arena in the Hockey East era.
