DURHAM, N.H. - Jeremy Davies posted two goals and two assists for four points for the Huskies, while Cayden Primeau tallied a shutout as the University of New Hampshire men's hockey team fell to No. 12 Northeastern, 6-0, on Saturday evening at the Whittemore Center. With the defeat, the Wildcats are now 11-12-8 overall (7-9-5 HEA), while the Huskies improved to 21-9-1 (13-7-1 HEA).

HOW IT HAPPENED

- After a scoreless first period, the Wildcats outshot the Huskies 9-3, while Northeastern went 0-1 on the power play.

- At 11:24 of the second period, Northeastern took a 1-0 lead after Davies skated with the puck from the neutral zone to the left face-off circle and sent a shot into the crease that slid through the low right corner past freshman goalie Ty Taylor (Richmond, British Columbia).

- The Wildcats outshot the Huskies 10-7, while UNH went 0-2 on the man-advantage and Northeastern went 0-1.

- Northeastern increased its lead to 2-0 at 3:36 of the third period, when Ryan Shea sent Lincoln Griffin on a breakaway, as he scored on backhander to the upper glove side of the net.

- Just 1:20 later, the Huskies scored a power play goal when Davies netted his second goal of the game when he fired a slap shot glove side past Taylor, extending the Northeastern lead to 3-0.

- With Northeastern shorthanded, Griffin posted his second goal of the game for the Huskies when he sent a back hander stick side off a breakaway, making the score 4-0 at 11:22.

- Zach Solow found the back of the net for Northeastern at 14:16, bringing its lead up to 5-0 when he rocketed a shot to the right side of the net past junior Joe Lazzaro (Hampstead, N.H.).

- The Huskies scored the last goal of the game when Tyler Madden blasted a shot to the back of the net from the right faceoff circle at 15:17, increasing the Huskies lead to 6-0.


INSIDE THE NUMBERS

- Northeastern outshot UNH by a 25-23 margin.

- Taylor made 15 saves and allowed four goals during the first 50:45 of the game, while Lazzaro recorded four saves and allowed two goals during the final 8:38.

- The Wildcats went 0-5 on the power play and the Huskies went 3-6.


LAZZARO RECEIVES SID KNIGHT TOP GPA AWARD

- Lazzaro was presented with the Sid Knight Top GPA Award. This award is given annually to the Men's Hockey player with the highest GPA and was presented by Associate Athletic Director for Academic Support, Joanne Maldari. He is an electrical engineering major who has a cumulative GPA of 3.95.
