SCHENECTADY, N.Y. - The Northeastern men's hockey team completed their weekend sweep of the Union Dutchmen in a 2-1 come-from-behind victory Saturday night. With the win, the Huskies improved to 2-0-0 (0-0-0 Hockey East) on the season.
Through two periods, the teams were locked at zero, with the Huskies outshooting the Dutchmen 16-11 heading into the final frame.
A scrum in front of the net gave Union the chance to break the scoring silence, striking minutes into the third period to give them the 1-0 lead. The lead was short-lived for the Dutchmen, however, as the Huskies retaliated shortly thereafter when freshman Riley Hughes registered his first career point on a breakaway opportunity to tie the teams up at 1-1.
Capitalizing on the momentum, Biagio Lerario lit the lamp with just over eight minutes left in the period to secure the 2-1 victory for Northeastern. The senior knocked in the game-winner off a cross-ice pass from Zach Solow and the secondary from Jordan Harris.
