WAKEFIELD, Mass. - Clarkson University forward Loren Gabel (Kitchener, Ont.) has been named the Women's Hockey Commissioners Association (HCA) National Division I Player of the Month for the month of October.

Gabel receives this prestigious honor after a month that saw her register an NCAA Division I high 16 points, coming from six goals and 10 assists. Those six goals increased her career total to 83, which places her at the top of the Golden Knights all-time goal scoring list.

That was not the only record the 5-4 senior would break during the month of October, however, as she also set a new Clarkson record for assists in the game when she tallied five on Oct. 26 during a 6-2 win at Syracuse. Gabel netted the only goal that she did not assist on in that game as well, tying her own record for points in a game (6).

The No. 3 ranked Golden Knights skated to a 5-1-0 record during October, and Gabel was the centerpiece of that success, scoring or assisting on 16 of the teams 25 goals. The left wing posted a plus- 10 on-ice rating, managed 50 shots on goal, and scored both a power play and game-winning goal, rounding out her October stat column.

The Kitchener, Ontario native scored a point in all six games this month, including four multi-point games and three games with three or more points.

Northeastern forward Alina Mueller (Winterther, Switzerland) has been tabbed as the first Women's Hockey Commissioners Association Rookie of the Month for the 2018-19 season. The rookie outpaced all other first-year players through the month of October with 11 points (4g, 7a), three points more than any other freshman. Mueller has tallied at least one point in eight of the Huskies nine games, including the game-winner in their most recent outing at Vermont on Oct. 30, and is riding an eight-game point streak (4g, 7a).

Her seven assists, four power-play points, and plus-nine rating were tied for first among all NCAA freshmen, while her 98 faceoff wins was good for sole possession of first. In the first weekend of the season, Mueller recorded the first point and multi-point game of her college career with a one-goal, one-assist showing in a 3-3 draw at Boston University on Oct. 6. The rookie has continued to rack up points in Hockey East action, tallying four goals and five assists, the most amongst all WHEA freshmen.

Aerin Frankel (Briarcliff Manor, N.Y.), a sophomore goaltender from Northeastern, has been chosen as the inaugural Women's Hockey Commissioners Association Goaltender of the month after posting a 4-1-0 record in five starts in October. In that span, she has recorded three shutouts, the most of any NCAA goaltender. She stopped 122 of 126 shots, which was good for 0.80 goals against average and .968 save percentage in 298:38 of work.

Frankel's first win of the season came in the form of a 5-0 victory over Boston University. She posted 28 saves in the effort and helped the Huskies snap the Terriers' 74-game scoring streak and earning Women's Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week honors in the process. The sophomore once again nabbed Defensive Player of the Week honors for the last weekend of play in the month of October after making 31 saves in a 2-0 shutout over Providence. Frankel is 4-0-0 in league play, posting three shutouts and allowing just one goal on 98 shots. She was named Hockey East Player of the Month on Thursday.
