| Sperry continued her stellar play as she helped lead the Terriers to the national championship
game. In the NCAA semifinals, the freshman turned aside 14 shots in a 4-1 victory over Cornell.
Against Wisconsin in the championship game, Sperry made a
career-high 32 saves, as she kept the Terriers within striking distance in a 4-1
loss. |

BOSTON UNIVERSITY TERRIERS
The Terriers became the first Hockey East team to play in the
national championship game
Boston College: Senior goaltender Molly Schaus ended
her collegiate career as BC's all-time leader in wins (125), goals
against average (1.81) and saves (3,428). Her single-season
records include wins (24), goals against average (1.45), and
saves (920). Classmate Kelli Stack concluded her career
with a school-record 209 points – 98 goals and 111 assists;
she ranks third all-time in goals. With 36 goals and 58 points
this year, Stack ranks second and third, respectively, in BC's
single-season records. Schaus captured AHCA All-America
first-team honors and Stack received second-team accolades.
Both players received All-America second-team recognition
as juniors in 2008-09…Boston College concluded its season
24-7-6.
Boston University: The No. 3 Boston University women's
ice hockey team (27-7-4) concluded its season with a 4-1 loss
to Wisconsin in the national championship game … The Terriers
became the first Hockey East school to play for the national
title when they beat Cornell, 4-1, in the NCAA semifinals …
BU improved to 8-0-0 against ECAC Hockey teams with its
win against the Big Red … Graduate student Catherine Ward
was named an AHCA Second Team All-American and was
selected to the All-Tournament Team … Junior Jenn Wakefield
set single-season program records in goals (32) and points
(54), while Ward set the single-season assists mark (27) …
Freshman Kerrin Sperry collected program records in wins
(21), shutouts (6), save percentage (.929) and goals-against
average (1.63).
Hockey East in the NCAA Tournament: Boston College
and Boston University mark WHEA's fourth and fifth entries
into the Women's Frozen Four and it marks the first time in
the league's nine-year history that two teams have qualified.
The Terriers appearance in the NCAA Championship Game
was the first for a WHEA team in the nine-year history of the
league...Hockey East teams now own a 6-11 all-time record
in the NCAA Tournament.
