Vaattovaara recorded 36 saves (.973 save%) to backbone UNH to a 3-1 victory at No. 2 Boston College. She stopped all seven shots in the second period and all 14 in the third, the Wildcats killed off three penalties in the third period and six overall. Hockey East

The Wildcats defeated No. 2 ranked Boston College last Wednesday, 3-1, at Conte Forum. UNH went 2-for-5 on the power play in the contest and went a perfect 6-for-6 on the penalty kill.

HOCKEY EAST WEEKLY TOP PERFORMERS

Kristyn Capizzano, BC (Fr, F, Oakville, Ont.) Had three points (1-2-3) in the three games this week.

Sara Carlson, UNH (So., F, Hutchinson, Minn.) Recorded a career-high two assists at #2 BC and the two points matched her personal best.

Dayna Colang, Vermont (So., D, Anchorage, Alaska) Scored two goals to lead Vermont to a 3-1 win at Rensselaer Saturday afternoon.

Nicole Gifford, UNH (Sr., F, Ennismore, Ont.) Recorded two points (1g,1a) to propel UNH to a 3-1 road victory against No. 2 Boston College.

Taylor Holze, BU (Sr., F, Lynbrook, N.Y.) Notched a goal and an assist on Friday night in the Terriers' 5-2 win.

Karissa Kirkup, Maine (F. F, Virden Man.) Scored her first two career goals against Quinnipiac Saturday afternoon.

Sarah Lefort, BU (So., F, Ormstown, Que.) Scored two goals, including the game-winner, in Friday night's 5-2 win at Robert Morris.

Meagan Mangene, BC (Sr, D, Miller Place, N.Y.) Had an assist, six blocked shots in the three games this week and had a +5 rating.

Kerrin Sperry, BU (Sr., G, North Reading, Mass.) Stopped 34 shots, including all 17 she faced in the third period in a 5-2 victory at Robert Morris.

Samantha Sutherland, BU (Fr., F, Cochrane, Alta.) Notched her first collegiate goal and added an assist in the win at RMU on Friday.

Cassandra Vilgrain, UNH (Fr., F, Calgary, Alta.) Recorded one point with a power-play goal in UNH's 3-1 win at second-ranked BC.

Louise Warren, BU (Sr., F, Pembroke, Ont.) Had a goal and an assist and was a team-best plus-2 in the Terriers' 5-2 win on Friday night.

TEAM NOTES

Boston College: BC went 2-1 in three games this week, falling to UNH 3-1 and beating Yale 4-3 and Dartmouth 7-2. The Eagles are now averaging four goals per game this season. Sophomore Haley Skarupa leads the league in points (12), goals (5), plus/minus (+11), and ppg (2.00) and has scored at least one point in five of six games this year. Megan Miller recorded a victory in her first start of the year, it was her sixth career win in 10 starts. Andie Anastos (4-2-6) and Kristyn Capizzano (2-4-6) are tied for the lead league for freshman scoring.

Boston University: BU split a weekend series at Robert Morris, including a 5-2 win on Friday night…Saturday's 3-0 loss marks the only occurrence in eight all-time meetings that Robert Morris has bested the Terriers…BU had not been shut out since Feb. 12, a 3-0 loss to Harvard…Freshman goaltender Victoria Hanson's 24 saves in her first collegiate start is the most saves in a Terrier debut since Melissa Haber stopped 26 shots on Oct. 22, 2006…Senior goaltender Kerrin Sperry has made 34 saves in two of her three starts this season.

Connecticut: UConn had its first off week of the season this past weekend… Connecticut hosts RPI on Oct. 25 and 26 at Freitas Ice Forum…the Huskies are 1-6-2 all-time against the Engineers…UConn's two goalies, Elaine Chuli (18th) and Sarah Moses (22nd) are among the top-25 nationally in save percentage, both over .910…UConn is 12th nationally on the penalty kill at 88.0 percent.

Maine: Freshman Karissa Kirkup scored her first two career goals against ranked No. 10 Quinnipiac University and freshman goalie Mariah Fujimagari made her first regular season appearance against Quinnipiac University.

New Hampshire: UNH extended its unbeaten streak to three games (2-0-1) with a 3-1 win at second-ranked Boston College. The last time the Wildcats beat a team ranked that high was Dec. 14, 2007, when the #2 'Cats were 4-1 winners vs. No. 1 Harvard…12th year head coach Brian McCloskey enters the Penn State series with 249 career victories…Cassandra Vilgrain has scored a goal each of the last two games; she is the only Wildcat to score a goal in consecutive games this season … With three goals in six games, Nicole Gifford has already matched last season's total. Gifford leads UNH in goals (three), assists (four), points (seven) and shots (25)…UNH is 2-0-0 when scoring at least three goals in a game and is also unbeaten (3-0-1) when allowing two goals or less.

Northeastern: Freshman Sarah Foss made her collegiate debut on Saturday for the Huskies, making 16 saves in relief of Chloe Desjardins… The Huskies are still in search of their first power play goal of the season (0-of-20) after finishing last season tied for sixth in the nation on the man advantage (30-of-134).

Providence: After Friday's win over Syracuse five players have notched at least a two-game point streak thus far on the season. Two of those five players have notched at least one point in four of the Friars' six games so far. Senior Corinne Buie (Edina, Minn.) leads the Friars in scoring with six points in six games, it is the most points she has collected in the first six games of the season throughout her career. Providence topped No. 10 Mercyhurst (Oct. 13), 3-2, for their first win over a ranked opponent since the 2011-12 season, when the Friars topped No. 7 Northeastern in the Hockey East semifinal game on March 3, 2012.

Vermont: Vermont has won consecutive non-conference road games for the first time since Jan. 1-2, 2011 at Union…With two goals Saturday against Rensselaer sophomore defenseman Dayna Colang has six points in the last two games…Colang leads Hockey East defenseman in points with seven in five games…Freshman goaltender Madison Litchfield moved to 2-0-0 on the season making 29 saves over two periods to pick up the win at Rensselaer... Amanda Pelkey leads the team in scoring with three goals and five assists for eight points…Brittany Zuback, Pelkey, and Colang are all top-five in Hockey East scoring…Klara Myren and Breanne Sundquist made their regular season debut for Vermont this weekend. Sundquist picked up the game-winning goal for the Catamounts.
