Boston University became the third school in Hockey East history to win three straight tournament championships when the #2 seed Terriers defeated crosstown rival and #1 seed Boston College, 3-2, before 680 fans at the Hyannis Youth and Community Center on Sunday afternoon. The Terriers rallied from a 2-1 deficit with two third period goals, riding that and the 40-save goaltending effort turned in by Tournament MVP Kerrin Sperry (North Reading, Mass.).

With the victory, the Terriers earned an at-large bid to the 2014 NCAA National Collegiate Women's Championships which begin on Saturday with quarterfinal play. BU will visit top seed and defending NCAA champion Minnesota, while the Eagles will travel to ECAC regular season champion Clarkson. BU lost to Minnesota in 2013 NCAA final, when the Gophers completed a perfect 41-0-0 season.

Sunday's final was set up by a pair of exciting semifinal games as Boston College downed #4 Vermont, 3-1, and BU nipped #3 Northeastern, 3-2. For Vermont, it was their first-ever appearance in the Hockey East semifinals.
