AROUND HOCKEY EAST: Three Women's Hockey East teams have taken to the ice already in 2016 with two programs coming away with their first victories of the new year. No. 7/8 Northeastern returned to the friendly confines of Matthews Arena Saturday, toppling Dartmouth College, 5-2, Jan. 2. Kendall Coyne (Palos Heights, Ill.) scored two goals and dished out an assist in the win, including her third short-handed goal on the year. She also fired 12 shots on net in the contest. Northeastern rookie Kasidy Anderson (Shaker Heights, Ohio) opened the scoring for the Huskies, tying the game at one goal apiece at the game's halfway marker. Jordan Krause (Kelowna, B.C.) added two helpers in the 5-2 win and set up the game-winning st rike off the stick of Denisa Krizova (Horni Cerekev, Czech Republic) ... The Vermont Catamounts claimed their fifth win of the season Jan. 2 against Union with a 4-2 victory. Junior forward Sarah Kelly (Vestal, N.Y.) netted the game-winning tally at 18:01 of the second period while Madison Litchfield (Williston, Vt.) kicked out 24 shots in the victory to pick up her second win of the ye ar ... The Providence College Friars opened 2016 with a pair of road contests at Robert Morris, dropping each game of the set. Friars rookie and leading point-getter Christina Putigna (Grimsby, Ont.) registered an assist in Friday's game and scored the only Providence goal in Sunday's outing. She now has five goals and 13 assists for 18 points in 2015-16.

Kendall Coyne - Northeastern

Kendall Coyne (Palos Heights, Ill.) scored two goals and dished out an assist in a 5-2 win over Dartmouth to open 2016. Her scoring line included her third short-handed marker on the year. She also fired 12 shots on net in the contest.

Kasidy Anderson - Northeastern

Kasidy Anderson (Shaker Heights, Ohio) claims Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week honors for the second time this year (Nov. 16) after sparking the Northeastern scoring barrage in a 5-2 win over Dartmouth. Anderson found the back of the net midway through the game to ignite a three-goal rally in 6:22 to end the second.

Jordan Krause - Northeastern

Jordan Krause (Kelowna, B.C.) registered two helpers to push the Huskies past Dartmouth, 5-2, Saturday afternoon. Krause assisted on the short-handed, game-winning strike, capping a three-goal flurry to end the second period.

HOCKEY EAST WEEKLY TOP PERFORMERS

Denisa Krizova, NU (So., F; Horni Cerekev, Czech Republic) Had three points (1g, 3a) and finished with a plus-four rating in Northeastern's 5-2 win over Dartmouth on Saturday.

Sarah Foss, NU (Jr., G; North Reading, Mass.) Stopped 28 shots Saturday to record her third consecutive win in a 5-2 victory over Dartmouth.

Shelby Herrington, NU (So., F; Bow, N.H.) Scored a goal and added an assist Saturday to help the Huskies past the Big Green.

Sarah Kelly, UVM (Jr., F; Vestal, N.Y.) Netted the game-winning goal for the Catamounts in Saturday's 4-2 win over Union.

Madison Litchfield, UVM (Jr., G; Williston, Vt.) Made 24 saves in Saturday's 4-2 win over Union, picking up her second in on the season for Vermont.
