AROUND HOCKEY EAST: The Vermont Catamounts held off No. 9 Boston University to grab a 3-2 win in its Hockey East opener at Gutterson Fieldhouse, picking up its sixth straight conference-opening win. Freshman forward Ève-Audrey Picard (Longueuil, Que.) netted a goal and an assist in the win, following a Tuesday night contest in which she opened her college career with a two goal performance in a 5-1 win over Union ... The Hockey East weekend kicked off with No. 9 Boston University and senior forward Samantha Sutherland (Fernie, B.C.) extending her lead in the nation's goal scoring column, netting two goals in each game this weekend, putting her at seven on the season. The Terriers took on two different Hockey East opponents this weekend, taking two points from New Hampshire on Friday but falling at Vermont on Sunday ... Providence collected the first two wins of its 2016-17 campaign on the road at RIT behind back-to-back shutouts from sophomore goaltender Madison Myers (Colchester, Vt.). Myers played all 120 minutes and posted 57 saves and a save percentage of 1.000 on the weekend ... In the only two-game Hockey East series of the weekend, No. 5 Boston College swept Maine, 2-1 and 5-1. Freshman forward Delaney Belinskas (Port Orange, Fla.) had the offensive performance of the weekend, finding the back of the net four times in Sunday's contest becoming the first Eagle freshman to score four goals in a game in 21 years. Fellow rookie Caitrin Lonergan (Roslindale, Mass.) posted three points on a goal and two assists across the two games against the Black Bears ... Right behind BU's Sutherland in the NCAA's goal-scoring race is Merrimack sophomore forward Katelyn Rae (Courtice, Ont.) who netted two more goals in a 3-4 loss to No. 7 Colgate, bringing her season total to six. The Warriors were ultimately swept by Colgate, dropping Saturday's contest, 6-0 ... After a strong showing with two road wins last weekend, UConn returned home to Connecticut, dropping a tough contest against No. 3 Quinnipiac, 3-0. Junior goaltender Annie Belanger (Sherbrooke, Ont.) made 32 saves, 15 of which came in the second period ... No. 3 Quinnipiac continued their weekend of Hockey East, taking down New Hampshire on Saturday, 3-0 ... Northeastern took both games of a two-game road stint at Lindenwood, with sophomore goaltender Brittany Bugalski (Boynton Beach, Fla.) posting a shutout in Friday's contest. Junior forward Denisa Krizova (Horni Cerekev, Czech Republic) scored two goals and added an assist in two games, becoming the 25th skater in school history to reach 100 career points. She netted two goals in Friday's 5-0 win and set up the game-winning tally in Saturday's 4-1 victory.

Denisa Krizova (Horni Cerekev, Czech Republic) scored two goals and added an assist in two games, becoming the 25th skater in school history to reach 100 career points. She netted two goals in Friday's 5-0 win and set up the game-winning tally in Saturday's 4-1 victory.

Ève-Audrey Picard (Longueuil, Que.) netted a goal and an assist in a 3-2 win over No. 9 Boston University Sunday, following a Tuesday night contest in which she opened her college career with a two-goal performance in a 5-1 win over Union.

Delaney Belinskas (Port Orange, Fla.) netted four goals in Sunday's 5-1 win over Maine, the first Eagle freshman to score four goals in a game in 21 seasons.

MADISON MYERS - PROVIDENCE

Madison Myers (Colchester, Vt.) shut out RIT on consecutive nights on the road, blocking a total of 57 shots in the two-game series. Myers also assisted in killing off 16 penalties in the series, helping the Friars to the first two wins of the year.

HOCKEY EAST WEEKLY TOP PERFORMERS

Cassidy Carels, PC (Sr., F; Bruxelles, Man.) Assisted three times and added a goal of her own in two shutout wins over RIT, bringing her point streak to five games for the 2016 - 2017 season.

Samantha Sutherland, BU (Sr., F; Fernie, B.C.) Scored two goals in each contest over the weekend against two different Hockey East opponents (New Hampshire, Vermont) to bring her to seven goals on the season. Sutherland is currently the nation's leading goal-scorer, posted seven tallies in three Hockey East games.

Caitrin Lonergan, BC (Fr., F; Roslindale, Mass.) With three points in two games against Maine, she extended her point streak to four games. She had the game-winning goal on Saturday and set up two Delaney Belinskas goals on Sunday.

Megan Keller, BC (Jr., D; Farmington Hill, Mich.) A key part of the limiting the Black Bears to just two goals in two games over the weekend, Keller also had a pair of assists while helping to kill off all 10 Maine power plays.

Alyssa Gorecki, UVM (So., F; Monee, Ill.) Had an assist on the game-winner at Union on Tuesday and then netted a game-winner of her own on Sunday against No. 9 Boston University, helping Vermont to their sixth-straight Hockey East opening win.

Eve-Audrey Picard, UVM (Fr., F; Longueuil, Que.) In her collegiate debut, she netted two goals, the first freshman to do so in UVM's Hockey East history. She added a goal and an assist in Vermont's Hockey East opening win against No. 9 Boston University on Sunday.

Matti Hartman, NU (Fr., F; Etna, N.H.) Tallied her first college goal on Friday to put the Huskies up, 4-0. The following night she netted the opening goal and went on to add an assist for her first multi-point game.
