~Herman takes Monthly Goalie honors; Wakefield earns Top Rookie accolade~

TPS Hockey Player of the Month
Sam Faber – New Hampshire

Faber recorded four goals, including two game-winners and two assists for
six points in six March games. She was named the Hockey East Tournament
MVP and was TPS Hockey Player of the Week following her efforts at the 6th
annual tournament. Faber scored three goals in the Hockey East Championship
Tournament and that included the only goal scored in the title game
vs. Providence. Faber opened the month with a one-goal, one-assist effort
against eighth-ranked UConn that included the game-winning tally. In addition
to the offensive numbers, Faber had a +6 rating.

ITECH Goaltender of the Month
Kayley Herman – New Hampshire
Freshman Goaltender; Weyburn, Sask.

Herman whose March honors included All-Tournament Team, Mission Rookie
of the Week (3/10) and Pure Hockey Defensive Player of the Week (3/17),
went 5-1-0 with a 0.99 GAA, .939 save percentage and three shutouts in
playing all 362:21 during the month of March. Herman recorded back-to-back
shutouts against Boston U. and Providence in the Hockey East Tournament as
part of a shutout streak of 149:20. She also blanked UConn in the month’s
opener and stopped 21 of 22 shots the next day vs. the Huskies. Three of the
six goals scored vs. Herman were on the opponent’s power play.

MISSION Rookie of the Month
Jenn Wakefield – New Hampshire
Freshman Forward; Pickering, Ont.

Wakefield, who was the Mission Rookie of the Week on March 24 as well as
a selection to the All-Tournament Team, recorded eight points (6g,2a) in six
March games; those numbers led UNH in both goals and points. She tallied
1-2-3 in two Hockey East games as well as 4-1-5 in four games against nationally-
ranked teams. Wakefield scored a goal in five of six games, including
both NCAA tourney games, with two multiple-point efforts. Wakefield’s other
statistics included a .214 shooting percentage and +7 rating.
