~Eagles down Maine; PC defeats Colgate; UConn edges Syracuse; UNH takes three points from Niagara~

WAKEFIELD, Mass. -- Boston College grabbed an extra point in shootout win over Maine on Sunday, while
Northeastern picked up a 3-2 win vs. BC on Tuesday night. Outside of league play, Providence and Connecticut
took on the ECAC this weekend with contests against both Syracuse and Colgate. Vermont split its weekend
series with No. 4 Clarkson, the win marked the highest ranked team UVM has beaten in school history. No. 3
New Hampshire finished the weekend on top with a 6-1 defeat over Niagara, after a 3-3 tie Saturday.
Providence skated to a 4-1 victory over Colgate at Schneider Arena on Friday night. Sophomore goaltender
Genevieve Lacasse (Scarborough, Ont.) boasted 30 saves in the win for the Friars. PC returned to the ice
Saturday but were defeated by Syracuse 3-1. Freshman Jessica Cohen (Anchorage, Alaska) scored goals in
back to back games earning her Hockey East Rookie of the Week honors.
UConn opened their season at home with a 3-2 win over Syracuse, increasing their home opener win streak
to five. The Huskies fell to Colgate on Saturday, 5-2.
The Terriers took on Wayne State in Michigan. With just 1.6 seconds remaining sophomore Tara Watchorn
(Newcastle, Ont.) scored tying the score at 4-4 on Friday, marking the third tie of the season for the Terriers.
Saturday was a different story as BU returned to the ice on Saturday with a 4-2 victory. The Terriers were led
by Hockey East Player of the Week Jenelle Kohanchuk’s (Winnipeg, Man.) dominating four-goal performance
for the Terriers.
The Catamounts dropped a 4-0 decision on Friday night in their first loss of the season with Vermont outshooting
the Golden Knights 32-29. The Catamounts were able to redeem themselves the next night as they
shut down Clarkson by a score of 4-1. Vermont was led again by Kailey Nash (Middletown, R.I.) and Emily Walsh
(Suffield, Conn.) who both scored goals on the man advantage. UVM senior goalie Kristen Olychuck (Kelowna,
B.C.) was strong in net all weekend, which included a 26-save effort in the win Saturday.
BC skated to a 1-1 tie against Quinnipiac on Friday. Senior Allie Thunstrom (Maplewood, Minn.) scored
BC’s lone goal on the power play. The Eagles faced Maine on Sunday at Conte Forum. Ashley Motherwell (St.
Charles, Ill.) recorded the final goal in the shootout earning BC an extra point in the standings.
The UNH Wildcats dominated on Sunday with a 6-1 decision. The ‘Cats were led offensively by senior Micaela
Long (South Boston, Mass.) who posted two goals and two assists.
The Huskies got a three-point effort from senior forward Lindsay Berman (Odenton, Md.) in the win vs. BC
on Tuesday night, while BC goalie Corinne Boyles (Wheaton, Ill.) amassed 43 saves in the losing effort. Northeastern
dropped its first game of the season to Quinnipiac at Matthews Arena on Saturday.

Corinne Boyles, BC (Fr. G, Wheaton, Ill.) Stopped 21 of 22 shots faced against Quinnipiac in the team’s 1-1 tie, posting a .955 save%.

TEAM NOTES
Boston College: BC managed to overcome Maine in a shootout on Friday, giving the Eagles
an extra point in a 1-1 tie with the Black Bears....BC also skated to a 1-1 tie with non-conference
opponent Quinnipiac on Friday, Oct. 16…Allie Thunstrom (Maplewood, Minn.) had a goal for the
Eagles in the 1-1 tie with Quinnipiac and recorded shootout goal in the shootout win over Maine.
Boston University: Saturday’s game marked the first contest that ended in regulation this
season for BU…BU had played in four consecutive overtime contests, a program record…Two of
Kohanchuk’s four goals on Saturday were power-play tallies, tying a team record for power-play
goals in a game…With a goal and three assists in two games against Wayne State, Melissa
Anderson now stands two points shy of the career 100-point mark and four shy of Gina Kearns’
program record of 102…Co-captain Melissa Tetreau played in her 100th gameon Friday against
Wayne State…Freshman goalie Alissa Fromkin got her first start Friday against Wayne State,
recording 22 saves in a 4-4 tie.
University of Connecticut: Connecticut evened its all-time record in home openers with a
3-2 victory over Syracuse on Friday night, holding off an Orange comeback while Brittany Murphy
(Tewksbury, Mass.) was responsible for the eventual gamewinner. It was the first such goal of her
career and her second overall score this season. Jennie Bellonio (Guildford, Conn.) earned the win
in her first start of the season, stopping 18 shots at Mark Edward Freitas Ice Forum. She stepped
back into the crease on Saturday evening after Alexandra Garcia (Pointe-Claire, Que.) allowed four
goals in UConn’s 5-2 loss to Colgate. It was the first loss to the Raiders in Husky program history.
Jody Sydor scored the first power-play goal of the season for UConn for her fourth such goal of her
career to bring UConn within two (4-2) in the second period. The Raiders scored an empty-netter
to secure the victory over the Huskies, who move to 2-3-1 overall this season.
University of Maine: Maine battled on Sunday at Boston College before losing in a shootout,
3-2…The Black Bears got their lone goal from Myriam Croussette (Baie-Comeau, Quebec) who is
third on the team with her fourth goal of the season…The Black Bears penalty kill has been solid
all season as they killed off six against Boston College…Maine has now killed off 32 penalties
this season and only given up three power play goals…The Black Bears have been pressuring
goalies on the power play as they have converted for seven goals while skating up a player this
season…Jenna Ouellete (Winnipeg, Man.) leads the team in points and assists with 10 and eight,
respectively…Gallo leads the Black Bears in goals with five on the year…Maine will hold their
annual “Skating Strides” game on Saturday, Oct. 24 when they host Robert Morris at Alfond
Arena for a 2 p.m. match up
University of New Hampshire: UNH concluded its six-game homestand with a 5-0-1
record…The senior class has recorded 19 of the team’s 36 assists…Seniors rank 1-2-3 in both assists
and points…Freshmen have scored nine of the team’s 22 goals…Kristine Horn (Utica, Mich.)
has scored three of her four goals on the power play…In three games, Kayley Herman (Weyburn,
Sask.) has a 0.67 GAA and .962 save percentage…UNH is 9-for-19 on the power play in the last
four games and that includes a 4-for-5 effort Oct. 18 vs. Niagara…The Wildcats have outscored
the opposition 7-1 in the first period with a 68-24 shot advantage…UNH has won all three games
in which it has fallen behind 1-0…The ‘Cats are 5-0-13 in their last 18 games decided by overtime,
and that includes this past Saturday’s tie vs. Niagara…UNH is also 5-0-13 in its last 18 home games
that have extended beyond 60 minutes of regulation.
Northeastern University: Senior Lindsay Berman (Odenton, Md.) picked up her second
three-point game of the season on Tuesday vs. BC (goal, two assists)...The Huskies are unbeaten
this season when they have more than 22 shots on goal in a game (3-0-1)...The Huskies have only
allowed one goal in the second period this season...22% of the Huskies’ total offense has been
generated by freshmen this season (7 out of 32 points).
Providence College: Ashley Cottrell saw her five-game point-scoring streak come to an end
on Saturday afternoon... PC will face-off against Yale on Friday at 7:00 p.m. in Schneider Arena...
The Friars hold the all-time edge over Yale, 22-5-1, with a scoring advantage of 136-32...Providence
will host Brown for the 15th annual Mayor’s Cup on Sunday at 2:00 p.m... The Friars will look to
maintain posession of the Cup for the third-consecutive season...Jessica Cohen holds the early-season
lead over all Hockey East freshmen with six points on three goals and three assists.
University of Vermont: UVM split a weekend series with No. 4 Clarkson. On Friday the
Golden Knights defeated Vermont 4-0 for their 12th consecutive win over the Catamounts. However,
on Saturday UVM used a three-goal second period to upset the No. 4 ranked Golden Knights. Kailey
Nash (Middletown, R.I.) scored the eventual game-winner on a power play goal...Emily Walsh
(Suffield, Conn.) scored her first-career goal in the second-period...The win over the No. 4 ranked
team marks the highest ranked team Vermont has beat in school history.
