CONNECTICUT FALLS TO OHIO STATE, 5-1

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Freshman Amy Hollstein (Pembroke, Mass.) scored the lone goal for the University of Connecticut women's ice hockey team as the Huskies fell, 5-1, to Ohio State on Friday night at the OSU Ice Rink. The Huskies have a four-game winning streak snapped and dip to 7-2-0 with the loss while the Buckeyes up their mark to 4-5-0.

After a scoreless first period, Hollstein broke through for UConn at the 16:40 mark of the second period when she converted on a feed by freshman defenseman Cristin Allen (Pickering, Ont.). The Buckeyes answered right back just 20 seconds later on a Tessa Bonhomme strike and the game was level at 1-1 after two periods of play. Four unanswered goals by OSU in the third period sealed UConn's fate. Morgan Marziali tallied at 4:10 and 6:02 for the home team while Erin Keys scored on the power play at 9:24 and Olivia Antognoli added an insurance strike at 17:07.

The Huskies held a 35-30 edge in shots on goal while sophomore netminder Brittany Wilson (Nepean, Ont.) stopped 25 Buckeye shots. Erika Vanderveer stopped 34 of the 35 UConn shots for OSU.

The two teams will meet again on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. in Columbus.
