CONNECTICUT TOPPED BY OHIO STATE, 2-0

COLUMBUS, Ohio. (Nov. 4, 2006) - Two goals early in the second period provided the difference as the University of Connecticut women's hockey team lost by a 2-0 score at Ohio State on Saturday afternoon. The Huskies tip to 7-3-0 with the loss while the Buckeyes even their mark on the season to 5-5.

After a scoreless first period, Jody Heywood struck for OSU just 1:25 into the second period. At 8:18, Hailey Lassen scored the game's second and final goal on the power play. The Buckeyes outshot UConn 12-6 in that second period where they wrestled control of the contest.

UConn held a comfortable 13-6 shot advantage in the third period, and a 29-27 edge for the game, but the Buckeyes' Erika Vanderveer would go the distance in net to record the shutout. Brittany Wilson (Nepean, Ont.) stopped 25 of 27 shots for the Huskies.

UConn gets back to Hockey East play on Saturday, Nov. 11 when the Huskies travel to Boston University of a 3:00 p.m. game.
