ORONO, Maine - The University of Maine Women's Ice Hockey team fell to Clarkson University Friday night by a 2-0 decision. Maine fell to 1-7-1 overall. Clarkson improved to 6-2-1.

In the first period, it was a virtual deadlock between the teams. Clarkson was throwing shots at the net but Maine goaltender Genevieve Turgeon turned them all aside. Clarkson outshot Maine 19-3.

The second period saw Clarkson get on the board. Britney Selina took a rebound off a Genevieve Lavoie shot and put it into an open goal at 00:54 into the period. But that would be all she wrote for the second period. The Golden Knights outshot Maine 17-6 in the period.

The third period saw the Golden Knights go up 2-0 when Britney Selina took another rebound, this time off a Melissa Waldie shot, and put it in the net. The goal was scored at 02:37 into the period. Clarkson outshot the Black Bears 15-3.

Maine goaltender Genevieve Turgeon totalled 49 saves. Clarkson goaltender Eve Grandmont-Berube tallied 12 saves in the shutout. Turgeon went to 1-5-1 on the season while Grandmont-Berube went to 3-2-1. Maine was 0-for-1 on the power-play while Clarkson was 0-for-8.

The Black Bears next game will be at home on November 3 for another game with Clarkson University. The game will be at 2pm on Saturday at Alfond Arena.
