Connecticut Battles Princeton to 0-0 Tie in Overtime

STORRS, Conn. - The University of Connecticut women's ice hockey team played a scoreless 65 minutes as the Huskies battled Princeton to a 0-0 tie in overtime on Friday night in the Mark Edward Freitas Ice Forum.

Junior goaltender Brittany Wilson (Nepean, Ont.) recorded a season-high 36 saves for the Huskies as UConn moves to 13-4-2 overall this season.

Tonight's scoreless game, marked Princeton's third shutout in a row, led by Kristen Young, who made 18 stops in goal for the Tigers.

The Tigers threatened the Husky defense throughout the game as they out-shot UConn 36-18, including a 15-5 advantage in the second period of play.

Sophomore Michelle Binning (Oshawa, Ont.) led the Huskies with six shots on goal while Amy Hollstein (Pembroke, Mass.) added four. Princeton's point leader Marykate Oakley led her team with eight shots on goal as well.

UConn will return to action on Saturday, Jan. 5 to conclude the two-game weekend series against Princeton. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m.
