MAINE TOPPED BY ROBERT MORRIS IN OVERTIME, 3-2

Sarah Bishop registered 37 saves for the Black Bears

ORONO, Maine - The University of Maine Women's Ice Hockey team fell to Robert Morris 3-2 in overtime Saturday afternoon. Maine fell to 1-10-1 overall while Robert Morris improved to 5-6-1.

In the first period, Robert Morris got on the board early. Sara O'Malley scored for the second time this weekend at 7:20 into the period. O'Malley caught a rebound off of aMorgan Beikrirch shot and put it in the net. It was a powerplay goal. But Maine came back two minutes later when Amy Stech took a pass from Jenna Ouellette and put it up over goaltender Brianne McLaughlin to tie the game at 9:43 into the first. Maine made it 2-1 just before the break when Kaitlin Zeek tipped a Taryn Peacock shot over the left shoulder of McLaughlin at 19:41. It was Zeek's first goal of her collegiate career. Despite the score, the Colonials outshot the Black Bears 13-9.

In the second period, Robert Morris tied it up again when Jessica Riley stole a pass in the neutral zone and passed it to sister Jordan who put it in the back of the net at 6:38 into the period. It was a shorthanded goal. Robert Morris again outshot Maine 10-6.

The third period saw a lot of back and forth between the teams. Robert Morris put on the pressure but Maine goalie Sarah Bishop was up to the task. Both goaltenders put up zeros in the period. The Colonials again outshot Maine 12-6.

Megan Picinic sealed it for the Colonials in overtime when she caught a rebound off of a Whitney Pappas shot. The goal was scored 3:39 into overtime for the win.

Maine goaltender Sarah Bishop totalled 37 saves. Robert Morris goaltender Brianne McLaughlin tallied 19 saves. Bishop went to 0-4-0 on the season while McLaughlin went to 4-6-1. Maine was 0-for-2 on the power-play while Robert Morris was 1-for-7.

The Black Bears next game will be at home on November 16 for a game against Connecticut. The game will be at 4pm on Friday at Alfond Arena.
