PRINCETON, N.J. (Oct. 25, 2008) - Michelle Binning (Oshawa, Ont./Toronto Jr. Aeros. Inter. AA) scored for the second consecutive night in the University of Connecticut women's ice hockey team's 4-1 loss at Princeton. Binning scored her team-best fifth power-play goal in the third period of Saturday night's game for the Huskies at Hobey Baker Rink.

Princeton scored three unanswered goals to start the game with Charissa Stadnyk capitalizing on the power play less than five minutes into the first period. Katherine Dineen followed with a power-play goal of her own at 12:12 in the second period.

Alexandra Garcia (Pointe-Claire, Que./Dawson College) stopped 11 Tiger shots in her third start of the season. Brittany Wilson (Nepean, Ont./Ottawa Inter. AA) took over in the Husky crease in the second period with Princeton in the lead, 2-0.

Danielle DiCesare scored the first even-strength goal of the game at 17:41 to pull the Tigers ahead 3-0. Binning scored her seventh goal of the season with assists from Dominique Thibault (L'Original, Ont./Montreal Axion NWHL) and Jody Sydor (St. Alberta, Alta./Sturgeon Composite). The UConn goal cut the deficit (3-1) with just over seven minutes remaining in regulation.

The Huskies (5-3-2, 2-1-0) registered a game-high 14 shots in the final twenty minutes of play and permitted the Tigers just to power-play opportunities. Wilson stopped eight shots while Nicole Tritter (Toronto, Ont./Toronto Jr. Aeros. Inter. AA) would lead UConn with three shots in the third period.

Princeton (1-1-0) retained the lead in the final period of play as Kristen Young finished the game with 29 saves. Sasha Sherry's empty-net goal with less than a minute and half left to play would give the game its 4-1 final.

UConn hosts Maine on Saturday, Nov. 8 at Mark Edward Freitas Ice Forum for a 1 p.m. game.
