Freshman forward Marie-Philip Poulin had a goal and two assists for BU

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Freshman Marie-Philip Poulin collected three points (1g, 2a) and sophomore Alissa Fromkin turned aside 14 shots for her first collegiate shutout, as the No. 3 Boston University women's ice hockey team secured a program-best seventh straight win with a 4-0 victory over Brown at Meehan Auditorium on Sunday afternoon.

The Terriers, who also earned a six-game winning streak earlier this season, previously won six contests in a row during the 2006-07 and 2009-10 seasons. BU garnered goals from four different players, including junior Jenn Wakefield and sophomores Jill Cardella and Taylor Holze, against the Bears.

The Terriers (15-2-3) scored a power-play goal for the sixth straight game as they went 1-for-5 with the player advantage, while Brown was 0-for-5. BU outshot the Bears by a 35-14 margin. Brown netminder Katie Jamieson made 31 saves as the Bears dropped to 2-9-2.

BU took a 1-0 lead with 13:35 remaining in the opening frame. Poulin intercepted a Brown clearing attempt in the right circle and slid a pass to Cardella in the slot. Cardella then skated a few strides before wristing a shot past Jamieson.

At 12:29 of the first period, Poulin skated the Terriers to a 2-0 advantage with her 16th goal of the season . Graduate student Catherine Ward skated into the offensive zone along the left-wing boards and passed to Poulin in the slot, where she fired a one-timer off the post and into the net.

While on the power play, Wakefield gave BU a 3-0 lead at 9:42 of the second period. The Pickering, Ont., native collected sophomore Kathryn Miller's pass at the blue line and sent a shot through a screen that beat Jamieson. Poulin collected her second assist of the game on the play.

Holze extended the Terriers' lead to 4-0 just 1:04 later. She collected a pass from Wakefield and skated around the top of the left circle before wristing a shot for her second goal of the season.

A scoreless third period followed to account for the 4-0 final.

The Terriers will return to Hockey East action next Sunday (Jan. 9) when they host Providence at 3 p.m.
