VERMONT DEFEATED BY DARTMOUTH, 5-1

Sophomore forward Erin Wente scored a goal for the Catamounts

BURLINGTON, Vt. - Dartmouth scored three goals on its first six shots to lead the Big Green to a 5-1 victory over Vermont Tuesday night at Gutterson Fieldhouse.

Sally Komarek opened the scoring for the Big Green 2:21 into the first period on the power play. Jenna Hobeika fed a pass from the point to Komarek who was positioned at the far post for an easy tip-in. Sasha Nanji picked up her team-leading 20th point on the play.

Just 33 seconds later the Big Green struck again. Camille Dumais walked in alone on Kelci Lanthier (23 saves) after a breakout pass from Reagan Fischer. Dumais beat Lanthier with a wicked wrist shot to give Dartmouth a two-goal lead. Geneva Kliman was credited with the second assist on the play.

With the Catamounts on the power play late in the first the Big Green capitalized on a great individual effort to stretch its lead to three. Amanda Trunzo carried the puck from the Dartmouth end to the Vermont zone and beat Lanthier at the 13:39 mark.

Early in the third period the Big Green extended their lead when Reagan Fischer scored her fifth goal of the season at the 5:43 mark. Lanthier stopped Fischer's initial shot, a one-timer off a 2-on-1, but Fischer scored off the rebound.

Sophomore Erin Wente got the Catamounts on the board at the 9:15 mark of the final frame. Wente scored her team-leading seventh goal of the season deflecting a shot from Lindsey Cashman past Lindsay Holdcroft (19 saves). Saleah Morrison picked up her sixth assist of the season on the play.

At the 16:16 mark Trunzo capitalized on some confusion in the Vermont end and scored her second goal of the game to cap off an impressive offensive night from the Big Green.

Dartmouth improves to 10-8-0 on the season, while the Catamounts fall to 4-12-9 overall.
